  I saved up all of last summer to buy an LCD or Plasma TV. I finally decided on this model, and after half a year, I am sure I made the right call. I have it connected to an HDTV cable box, a PS3, and a wii, and everything looks incredible. When I was browsing through Best Buy, I couldn’t even tell a difference between 1080p and 720p in a set of this size, so sticking with the 720p is a great way to save.br /br /My one complaint would be that sometimes it seems like there is a small flash of white, or at least a lighter color, when a scene shifts to something really dark. Maybe that’s because I don’t have everything set up perfectly, but it’s really a minor inconvenience.br /br /Long story short - this is a great looking TV set that is affordable and reliable, even 6 months later. I highly recommend it.

  After shopping around, Best Buy, going-out-of-business Circuit City, H.H. Gregg, this was by far the best price for a 42″ plasma TV I found. With free shipping and no sales tax, it was the best deal. It arrived within a week, carted in and set up by a private firm. (I actually set it up myself because I wanted to save the packing box for when I move). The picture is very good, and setup was easy. We have been enjoying it for about a month now, and I would do the same thing again. The picture is really just as good as the cable will allow, but overall, it is a great set.

  This review is for the Samsung HPT4264 which is this models predecessor. I can only imagine this TV is as good or better, and I could not be happier with mine! I use it to watch TV (HD regular), play video games (PS2) and watch DVD’s on an upconvert DVD player. The picture is stunning. Better than my Sharp LCD, way better than my Olevia LCD, better than the Sony plasma’s I have seen, and also slightly better than the Panasonic that my friend has. For the money, I don’t think you can do better. I was a Panasonic fan until I saw a friend’s Samsung and was blown away by the colors, so sharp and vivid (and more so than the Panny). My next TV purchase will be a Samsung LCD which a friend has recently aquired and in 1080P and no plasma burn to worry about, it seems like the way to go, especially for video games. Incidently, I broke in my TV in as recommended, and I do play PS2 on it, and it has not displayed any permanent burn-in. But that topic is for an entirely different debate of plasma vs. LCD. I think the only way you can do better than this TV price/performance is to consider a Samsung LCD 1080p, which have come down a lot in price, but will still set you back a few hundo more than this one. If you buy this I don’t think you will be disappointed!

  Colors are outstanding, audio very good and set up was super easy. For the price this TV is an excellent value. You won’t be disapointed.

  I have a PS3 and i thought i would not be able to display 1080p. but i was curious so i set my PS3 to 1080p in the display options menu thinking the screen would just go black or blank or would say “mode not supported” but the screen when to black for a second and then came back at 1920×1080 i pressed the info button on the remote and it said 1920×1080 @60Hrts, BUT when i set my PS3 to 720p the info says 1280×720p @60Hrts, or when i set my PS3 to 1080i it says 1920×1080i @60Hert the difference the “p” or the “i” when PS3 is set to 1080p it does not say 1920×1080″p” but at 720p it does. so make of that what you will, at 1080p it looks amazingly better then 720p, plus with a 20,000:1 on screen contrast ratio and a 3D sync out this is one hell of amazing display for the money.

  I had a total budget of $1,000. I wanted to get the most for my money. It’s easy to get the best TV (when money is no object) but very difficult to find the best value. At the end of the day, I selected this Samsung TV…with money left over to buy a blu-ray player.br /br /The bottom line is that this is a great TV for the price. The fact is, on screen sizes smaller that 50″, 1080p is not a big deal. And although this is a plasma and not an LCD, plasmas have some advantages versus LCD TV’s (the blacks are “blacker”, for instance). Finally, you can get a 40-42″ 1080p LCD TV for less than $1000 but it’s basically junk (at least as of today…but I’m sure that’ll change in time). This is a solid product from a solid manufacturer so you cannot go wrong…and I’ll be enjoying it for years to come.br /br /Football is a whole new experience in HD. This TV is basically idiot proof…it looks good out of the box. Now the blu-ray technology is a bit of a different story.br /br /In all fairness, the other TV to check in this price range–which is a great TV also–is the Panasonic TH-42PX80U. Which ever one you choose, enjoy!

  nice tv. great picture. sound is pretty good. only one s-video slot so gamers will have a problem but overall cant beat price for what you get.

  I bought this plasma after about 6 months of rewviews, research, and shopping. $699.99. Dont be fooled by 1080p. Your eye can’t tell the difference unless you are within 5.5ft. Plasma Tv’s have a faster refresh rate than LCD(even the 120hz LCD’s), 100,000hr life, no burn issue anymore, and most have a better contrast.This TV is really awsome I compared it to the Samsung TOC(touch of color) series. The picture from a blu-ray player were virtually identical! This TV has many many settings that you can really tweak the color, contrast, etc. although you probably wont need them since it looks great out of the box. Sound is great as well, some reviews say different, but really is sounds great. Save you money dont believe the hype and bull about 1080p 120Hz LCD. You CAN get the same beautiful picture at a fraction of the cost. br /br /

  I ordered the tv a few weeks before Christmas and received it a week later. The delivery person set it up and made sure that it worked. Everything was fine. I looked at more expensive products but decided on this one and am very pleased with my purchase.

  I got this TV in the Best Buy bundle they offered with the Xbox 360. For the price, I had absolutely not expected how great this TV is. The picture quality is definitely amazing, and I still can’t find a TV in any display stores with better HD quality so far. Like all plasmas, it does show the true black perfectly and there’s no motion blur what-so-ever in any of the video games or sports programming I’ve played so far. It also has inputs galore (3 HDMIs, VGA/sound PC input, optical audio output) which makes it easy to hook up to all the different components. I’m also able to cut down on extra cables by utilizing the optical sound output to my Denon receiver, so anything I view on the TV feeds digital sound to my AV system.br /br /If you’re looking for a true hidden gem, this TV probably offers the greatest value out there right now - and the Plasma is still superior to LCD at the moment.

  First we bought the 42 inch vizio LCD (XVT) because of the 1080p and 120hz refresh, and it was on sale at Costco, but we found it to be annoyingly grainy, even while watching discs on our high-end Bluray machine (Sony BDP-BX1). After much deliberation and research online, we decided for the money we should be thrilled about the purchase, and so returned the Vizio to Costco (they took it, no questions asked, even without the box) and bought this Samsung plasma from Bestbuy for $100 less. The result… this is what we were looking for. We watch movies in the dark and this TV is perfect for it. No grain, crisp and beautiful. Is 1080p really that important? Or is this just more size-matters syndrome? Who knows - but this 720p plasma looks worlds better than the 1080p LCD, for less money. Go with this one!

  Great TV for the price. Out of the box settings were very good. You could get a better TV for 2000 dollars, but this seems to be the best TV in this price point by a wide margin. I’ll be dropping cable now since I have a HD antenna, and the picture looks amazing! Everything is so smooth, and the color is great. I had no problem giving up the 1080p features of higher end TVs for this TV (I don’t have a blu-ray player, and it’s only 42 in so you’re not going to notice the difference hardly). Worth every penny and more.

  After years and years of suffering with a smaller screen, I finally splurged and went out and bought one of these bad boys. I was not disappointed at all!! br /br /I did a ton of research on the web and then went and looked at the ones I liked at the local “Best Buy”. I even brought in my favorite DVD to see how the different models looked in a familiar show. For the price, this was the one I went home and bought online at Amazon. br /br /Why in the world would anyone want to lug a piece of equipment like this anywhere when you can have it delivered for free from Amazon!! My delivery was perfect, but I understand there needs to be a little flexibility when you have to ship this stuff by a heavy weight carrier. I love the fact they bring it in and let me inspect the TV for damage.br /br /The sound is pretty decent. I don’t even feel the need to fire up the sound system for daily TV viewing any more:). br /br /The picture is outstanding. I never noticed how much stuff gets purposely blurred out in TV shows before now. Thing like license plates, a protruding nipple, that bloody scene on ABC. It is amazing some of the stuff they blurred out in shows that I never even noticed before getting this TV. br /br /The number of connectors is satisfactory. A network connection would be that extra nice touch. With all the HDMI stuff coming out now days, a 3rd one of those would be handy eventually as well. The USB connection for possible updates was a huge relief to see. I think I might even be able to play some picture from it, but I haven’t given that a try yet.br /br /Overall, a very solid buy after having it almost 6 month!
