This TV is nothing short of spectacular. I’m not really sure how you improve on the picture quality. I’d love to compare it to the $10,000 Pioneer plasmas and see for myself exactly what the difference is. I bought mine through Amazon.com for $1358 and had zero problems with delivery and setup. I was leary about buying a plasma TV through the internet and having it delivered without damage. It was fine. br /br /I have a HD cable box hooked up to this TV. Within the range of HD channels, some are better than others in terms of picture quality. It’s not the fault of the TV, but rather the signal strength and how the video was originally created. I would say the overall range is from very good to absolutely stunning. Even on SD channels, the quality is good to very good, but not HD quality. Fortunately, there are a lot of HD versions of the most popular channels out there and I would expect more to be added.br /br /I also bought a Samsung home theater with the wireless rear speakers and the sound is amazing. Don’t rely on the speakers that come with this TV or you will be disappointed. My home theater came with a up converter for DVDs and there the quality ranges from OK to excellent. My DVD copy of “War of the Worlds” was pretty disappointing, but “Pirates of the Carabean: At Worlds End” was excellent. I have to believe there’s a range of quality among DVDs. I believe Blue Ray is the way of the future, but the price of movies is still pretty high compared to DVDs - at least $10 more per movie.

It took about five days to receive this product and I only got the metal pieces. I called the company and they shipped the mounting hardware in two days and emailed me installation instructions immediately. I didn’t have to sit on hold forever and they were very friendly and helpful. We used this to hold a 42″ Samsung and so far so good! Oh and like everyone else has also said, don’t use the level because it’s definitely not accurate. :)

The price on this TV wall mount was too good to pass up, but it is not very sturdy! This mount is barley capable of supporting a 50″ plasma. I am using it now for 4 months, but I worried about it the 1st week. So far it is still holding.

  • 3 Adamson

This is my second wall mount that I own and in comparison to the first the quality of the material is definitely not as good. Everything necessary to mount it on the wall was included but I wouldn’t suggest using the included level as it was way off compared to a legitimate one. Overall, for the price it is a good value for a secondary set. I don’t think I would use it for my primary set or one larger than 42″.

If you’ve ever mounted a TV before, you know drilling those screws into the stud can be an absolute pain.. pushing hard and risking stripping the screws. This mount had a great system. After you drill the pilot holes, use a socket wrench to install and tighten the screws. Amazingly simple and hassle free. Love it. Yeah watch the levels they are not accurate. Use your own. What a deal for so cheap. The tilt works as designed as well.

  • 5 Janssen

I had the TV hanging in about 10 mins. Very easy to figure out and it comes with all the mounting hardware.

the poker room really enjoys it !! br /have a 50″ samsung upstairs.br /love it !!br /no complaints on either tv.br /if you open your eyes, explore, and read, it is very user friendly.br /don’t use the sound cuz we have surround sound on both.br /

I bought this TV last August from Best Buy and two days before it went off. I hear a click sound when I turn on, but nothing comes up. I even use a surge protector power supply.br /I used to have TVs lasting more than 20 years, but I am surprised to see this Big Brand TV going off in just one year. Unfortunately, I didnt buy the extended warranty. The charges towards fixing this issue seems to be around 40% of TV cost. I called up Samsung also if they can help with my problem. They told the same story what Best Buy told me, that fix up an appointment with technical engineer and I need to bear the whole cost, as I am out of Warranty. But they keep their mouth shout, when I ask why did this fault happen.br /br /So Beware of this problem, before buying this TV. I am totally disappointed with purchasing this TV.

After years and years of suffering with a smaller screen, I finally splurged and went out and bought one of these bad boys. I was not disappointed at all!! br /br /I did a ton of research on the web and then went and looked at the ones I liked at the local “Best Buy”. I even brought in my favorite DVD to see how the different models looked in a familiar show. For the price, this was the one I went home and bought online at Amazon. br /br /Why in the world would anyone want to lug a piece of equipment like this anywhere when you can have it delivered for free from Amazon!! My delivery was perfect, but I understand there needs to be a little flexibility when you have to ship this stuff by a heavy weight carrier. I love the fact they bring it in and let me inspect the TV for damage.br /br /The sound is pretty decent. I don’t even feel the need to fire up the sound system for daily TV viewing any more:). br /br /The picture is outstanding. I never noticed how much stuff gets purposely blurred out in TV shows before now. Thing like license plates, a protruding nipple, that bloody scene on ABC. It is amazing some of the stuff they blurred out in shows that I never even noticed before getting this TV. br /br /The number of connectors is satisfactory. A network connection would be that extra nice touch. With all the HDMI stuff coming out now days, a 3rd one of those would be handy eventually as well. The USB connection for possible updates was a huge relief to see. I think I might even be able to play some picture from it, but I haven’t given that a try yet.br /br /Overall, a very solid buy after having it almost 6 month!

I’ve owned this set for about 10 months now, and it never ceases to amaze me with its picture and ease of use. Simply put, it’s an outstanding HDTV, especially for the price.br /br /The color is what strikes me first. It’s drastically better than almost every LCD set I’ve come across that’s been below $3,000. In general, plasma tv’s produce better color output than LCD’s, so that in and of itself isn’t really surprising. What IS surprising, though, is just how much more vivid a picture this set has than almost all LCD’s and plasmas anywhere remotely in and out of its price range. My dad paid twice as much for his 40″ LCD 1080p, and all he does is comment on how pretty my tv looks everytime he comes over. Same with a close friend of mine who also owns an LCD that cost more than twice as much. I never realized how beautiful reds, yellows, blues, and greens were until I got this set. Yellow has become my new favorite color, strangely enough, because it looks so bloody brilliant on this set. Bumblebee from Transformers blows my mind every time I watch it. It’s absolutely beautiful.br /br /In terms of clarity, it’s again a stunning product. Blu-Rays shine on this set, and I’m constantly showing off Transformers and Planet Earth to the delight of my friends. Also, the contrast on this plasma outshines any and all LCD screens I’ve tried out, too.br /br /I can’t comment on the sound because I use my surround sound set-up at all times, but the three or four times I’ve utilized the factory speakers, they’ve been fine.br /br /My only major gripe is that the factory remote doesn’t have preset buttons for each of the input selections. There’s only one button, and you have to cycle through the input types until you reach your desired destination. I ended up purchasing the Harmony One remote which already has those inputs programmed in. Sweet!br /br /The only other concern I have had is screen burn-in, which has happened on occasion. I’m fairly mindful of it and whatever burn-in my tv has received has always worn off after an hour or so, but I imagine if you play video games with HUDs on them for many many hours at a time, this could become an issue. I haven’t had any problems with my games (all three of the “next gen” systems look and play great on this thing), but I am not as hardcore a gamer as I used to be.br /br /Overall, this set is dynamically beautiful, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a fantastic picture that will wow you and your friends and family for years to come.

After reviewing many TVs, I decided to go with this one. I’ve had it for 4 months now and love it.br /br /One bit of advice for those about to break into the HD world. When we first plugged in the TV, I thought I did something wrong because the picture didn’t take up the entire screen area. What I found out later is that non-HD channels only display in a portion of the screen. I wish there were more HD channels to display on this great TV.

  • 11 DeAnda

I received my Tv on time was it was broken, but thanks to Crutchfield i received a full refund.

Absolutely my worst experience with TV’s - ever. Sure, the picture is generally great, but too many problems and too many service calls. I got sucked in based on the glowing reviews and paid dearly for my mistake. My HPT5064 is barely 14 months old and the power supply board needs replacement!!! Of course it went just after the warranty had expired. No surge, no brownout - just gone. I called Samsung when it went dark and they kindly advised their factory authorized company, which was to contact me to schedule the appointment. Well, 3 days later I get a call informing me that a technician will be there in 5 days. Count that: we’re up to 8 days. The guy shows up, tests the unit and promptly informs me that I need a new power supply board. Total estimate: $360 plus tax. So here I am, faced with the attractive option of investing almost $400 in a unit which has already given me multiple audio and picture ghosting problems and which has never worked with HDMI. Why bother — I decided to cut my losses, paid the guy his minimum $81 fee and will move on to a Sony, Pioneer or another reliable brand. Will sell this piece of junk to a refurbishing shop and will never look at another Samsung again.

After doing TONS of research and going back and forth on 1080 vs. 720, I went for this beauty. I don’t have a Blue-Ray player and I don’t own a PS3 (yet) so I couldn’t take advantage of 1080. Broadcast HD TV is 720 anyway. I have owned this set for about 10 months and at the time the same size LCD was $500 more and the screens on the LCD’s of the day just were not as bright as plasma IMO.br /br /Best thing to do, go to your local electronic store, compare TV’s side by side and then buy it on Amazon. First of all Amazon rocks! Customer service is awesome. 2 weeks after we bought the TV it dropped $150 and when I called Amazon they gave me the difference back! This is only good for up to 30 days after your purchase date. No tax for us in CA, and Free white glove delivery. TV came on time, delivery company called me to schedule an appointment for delivery. The delivery guy brought the TV in and help set it up and even cleaned up the mess. br /br /TV was a breeze to setup. I have HD Comcast cable running in via composite cables, a Wii via composite, a media center PC into the VGA port and a DVD player plugged in through one of the HDMI pots. Couldn’t get coax to work directly connected to the TV but no big deal, I watch it through my cable box anyway.br /br /I read online that you had to “break in” a plasma or you would have burn in early on. I had the TV’s settings dialed in to my room brightness but still kept it at 50% brightness. Even at that setting the TV was still VERY bright! Yes it is a plasma TV and YES there will be burn in at some point. After playing Guitar Hero III for hours with friends yes there is a ghost of the game burned into the screen. Flip the channel to any HD FULL SCREEN channel and in about 10 minutes, its all gone. br /br /Early on we would run the anti-burn feature on the TV when we went to bed to keep burn in from being permanent. Set the sleep timer for 30-60 min, and start the scrolling anti-burn feature. The next morning when we turned on the TV, it was all gone.br /br /All in all, I love it!br /br /PROS:br /Great picturebr /Great colorbr /Looks good on or offbr /Sound is impressive for such small speakersbr /Lots of inputsbr /br /CONS:br /Burn in after gaming or when watching sports (score board or news ticker)br /Plasma uses alot of energy vs LCDbr /Plasma puts off alot of heat for a TV. Keep airflow open around TVbr /VERY heavy, need two people to move safelybr /br /

This is a very good TV for the price! My mom has a Samsung and spent over $3,000.00 on hers, and the quality of this one definitely outshines hers! I just upgraded to an HD cable box and the picture is very good. I gave this 4 starts because burn in and ghosting happens fairly easy on this TV. You have to be VERY careful if you are watching channels that have a logo on it for more than 40 minutes. I even have the contrast/brightness/color, etc. all below 50. My kids love to watch Nick, and I had the Nick logo stuck on my TV for days… (after watching for only 1 hour) Another time I was switching DVD’s and my DVD player was on and the word “Pioneer” was burned into the TV in bright pink for 3 days; it was left on screen for no longer than 2 minutes. Other than that…great deal! Great picture!

I’ve had this TV for over a year. The TV is easy to use with lots of nice features and it gets a nice picture. After several months of use the power supply went out while the TV was still under warranty. br /br /The customer service and warranty repair service is horrible. It took almost 3 weeks to get someone to the house to repair the TV. Hour’s on the phone with Samsung and all they do is blame the 3rd party service provider that they contract the work out to. This is the last Samsung product I will ever buy. I have purchase 2 additional flat panel TV’s since this TV from other manufactures.

Bought this TV in 8 months ago (January 2008). Very, very happy with this plasma TV. Excellent picture and easy to use remote control. I haven’t had any problems since purchasing it. The side panel inputs are convenient. The contrast with black and other dark colors is great.br /br /The HD channels are great. However, like other plasma’s, the non-HD channels are average at best.

Bought this TV in October 2007 (from Amazon)after spending that summer doing all kinds of research (especially Plasma vs LCD comparisons) I choose to with this Samsung/Plasma due mostly to its competitive pricing, picture quality and standard features. I LCD’s at the time were still behind the Plasmas with picture quality. I originally wanted a 42″ but went bigger and I am so glad I did.br /br /Now lets get down to what you are reading this review for. Once purchased it took about a week for delivery (which for me was way too long but I did have time to find a TV stand). If you are going from a SD TV to a HD TV (as I did) then you will be amazed at the picture quality especially if you are a sports fan. Now SD channels are not that good but are better that a regular TV with 4:3 pull down. Also I switched from Comcast to DirectTV due to the picture quality. Comcast has to use a video compression technique to get HD over the coaixal cable which henders quality.br /br /Out of the box I had a low sounding buzzing noise that was intermittent and if I turned the volume up I wouldn’t hear it. It kinda bothered me at first but I go over it. After reading some forums alot of people experince this with Plasma it’s just to what volume level can you tolerate it. Samsung is aware and have some remedies. Also be aware this TV gets hot and expands the plastic molding which will make a crakling sound from time to time (you will also hear this when you turn the TV off). This issue/concern is addressed in the owners manual. This is just a by product of having a Plasma TV.br /br /After adjusting all the available picture settings I was completely satisfied with picture quality. I have a PS3 (HDMI) and XBOX 360 (Component) and both are beautiful to look at. Please be advised that additional adjustments may be neccessary to get the picture the way you want it. I could write more on this but its my vision vs yours. So remember its what you prefer not me. I am just very pleased with the HD and SD picture quality. I highly recommend this TV.br /br /I do have to say I do get compliments from others (mostly friends and family) on the picture quality they see on this TV.br /br /Now I did have a bit problem that drove me crazy for awhile. Late January 09 I started noticing this rapid pixel flicker of red and green color in dark areas of video content. It only seemed to happen after the TV had been on for awhile (sometimes 30min to 2hrs). I think is was tempeature related. Oh by the way the backt top of the TV gets really hot. So if you have children please be aware of this. Now back to this flickering of pixels you had to be about 3-5 feet away to really see it but after about a month of this I could see it from my standard sitting distance (which is exactly 10ft).br / I called Samsung support and even after a year still issued a warranty work order. The tech that came out could see it (that was good to know because my girlfriend said I was obessed with this. Unfortunately the tech just oredered a power supply board and that realy didn’t fix it. So I called Samsung back and they issued another warranty claim and the TV repair shop said we will get you an interior display replacement (which replaces the display and all boards except power supply and input/output board.). So needless to say Samsung support has been GREAT to me.br /br /Overall— Do your own research. Pick the TV that fits your budget and wants. You already know you need a TV. Don’t be afraid to go big. Go online to the actual brand manfacturer to determine what the models are (entry level vs premium) and features they come with. Then go to the big retailers to actually see the TV. Do be skeptical of picture quality in the store. They use different settings than what you may use in your home. Remeber where you are putting this TV (pay attention to you surrounding light). Then shop Amazon becuase no sales tax. I would’ve paid over 1,000 more if I bought at the BB store. Also not every TV is perfect these are highly technical pieces of equipment and all brands have issues (as you will discover when you do your research). Its how they deal with those issues that sets them apart. As I have stated before Samsung has been great to me.br /br /Hope this review helped you in making an informed decission.br /br /
