This is a very good TV for the price! My mom has a Samsung and spent over $3,000.00 on hers, and the quality of this one definitely outshines hers! I just upgraded to an HD cable box and the picture is very good. I gave this 4 starts because burn in and ghosting happens fairly easy on this TV. You have to be VERY careful if you are watching channels that have a logo on it for more than 40 minutes. I even have the contrast/brightness/color, etc. all below 50. My kids love to watch Nick, and I had the Nick logo stuck on my TV for days… (after watching for only 1 hour) Another time I was switching DVD’s and my DVD player was on and the word “Pioneer” was burned into the TV in bright pink for 3 days; it was left on screen for no longer than 2 minutes. Other than that…great deal! Great picture!

After doing TONS of research and going back and forth on 1080 vs. 720, I went for this beauty. I don’t have a Blue-Ray player and I don’t own a PS3 (yet) so I couldn’t take advantage of 1080. Broadcast HD TV is 720 anyway. I have owned this set for about 10 months and at the time the same size LCD was $500 more and the screens on the LCD’s of the day just were not as bright as plasma IMO.br /br /Best thing to do, go to your local electronic store, compare TV’s side by side and then buy it on Amazon. First of all Amazon rocks! Customer service is awesome. 2 weeks after we bought the TV it dropped $150 and when I called Amazon they gave me the difference back! This is only good for up to 30 days after your purchase date. No tax for us in CA, and Free white glove delivery. TV came on time, delivery company called me to schedule an appointment for delivery. The delivery guy brought the TV in and help set it up and even cleaned up the mess. br /br /TV was a breeze to setup. I have HD Comcast cable running in via composite cables, a Wii via composite, a media center PC into the VGA port and a DVD player plugged in through one of the HDMI pots. Couldn’t get coax to work directly connected to the TV but no big deal, I watch it through my cable box anyway.br /br /I read online that you had to “break in” a plasma or you would have burn in early on. I had the TV’s settings dialed in to my room brightness but still kept it at 50% brightness. Even at that setting the TV was still VERY bright! Yes it is a plasma TV and YES there will be burn in at some point. After playing Guitar Hero III for hours with friends yes there is a ghost of the game burned into the screen. Flip the channel to any HD FULL SCREEN channel and in about 10 minutes, its all gone. br /br /Early on we would run the anti-burn feature on the TV when we went to bed to keep burn in from being permanent. Set the sleep timer for 30-60 min, and start the scrolling anti-burn feature. The next morning when we turned on the TV, it was all gone.br /br /All in all, I love it!br /br /PROS:br /Great picturebr /Great colorbr /Looks good on or offbr /Sound is impressive for such small speakersbr /Lots of inputsbr /br /CONS:br /Burn in after gaming or when watching sports (score board or news ticker)br /Plasma uses alot of energy vs LCDbr /Plasma puts off alot of heat for a TV. Keep airflow open around TVbr /VERY heavy, need two people to move safelybr /br /

Absolutely my worst experience with TV’s - ever. Sure, the picture is generally great, but too many problems and too many service calls. I got sucked in based on the glowing reviews and paid dearly for my mistake. My HPT5064 is barely 14 months old and the power supply board needs replacement!!! Of course it went just after the warranty had expired. No surge, no brownout - just gone. I called Samsung when it went dark and they kindly advised their factory authorized company, which was to contact me to schedule the appointment. Well, 3 days later I get a call informing me that a technician will be there in 5 days. Count that: we’re up to 8 days. The guy shows up, tests the unit and promptly informs me that I need a new power supply board. Total estimate: $360 plus tax. So here I am, faced with the attractive option of investing almost $400 in a unit which has already given me multiple audio and picture ghosting problems and which has never worked with HDMI. Why bother — I decided to cut my losses, paid the guy his minimum $81 fee and will move on to a Sony, Pioneer or another reliable brand. Will sell this piece of junk to a refurbishing shop and will never look at another Samsung again.

I bought mine at Sears for $799.00, and love it. If you are looking for a large plasma TV, and want to spend less than $1000.00-this is for you. I recently connected it to the HDTV box from the cable company, and the picture is great, especially sports. We have also played the wii and playstation on the TV without any difficulties. You can set the TV to move 2 to 4 pixels vertically and 2 to 4 pixels horizontally every 2 minutes so there will never be a burn on the screen, because the pixels are continuously moving. The remote control is very easy to use as well.

I bought this tv for $800 and couldn’t be happier. Sure it’s 720p and not 1080p, but for this cheap I couldn’t be happier with 50 inches of HD television. You really don’t give up that much resolution at 50 inches anyway.br /br /Picture looks great, I have HD cable, Xbox 360, and Bluray player hooked up to it, and I love it. I have not seen any signs of the screen door effect.br /br /What is bad about this tv? Well they skimped on the inputs. There are no front, or side panel inputs. On the back there are two HDMI inputs and two progressive inputs….ZERO RCA inputs. If you have RCA (like an old VCR or Tivo) then you use up one of the progressive inputs. Also there are ZERO optical audio inputs. There is an optical audio output so you can pass the HDMI sound to your surround sound receiver.br /br /This tv has some feature to make the blacks darker, I think it does it by turning off the pixels all together. The only time you notice it is if the show you are watching fades to black, then it looks like the tv is completely turned off. At this point the tv would “freak out” and switch between the tv’s black and off really dark black. I was able to get the tv to stop doing this when I calibrated my contrast and brightness settings. Would have been nice if Samsung offered a setting for the tv not to do this.br /br /I have noticed some very slight image burn in after playing games, but it goes away quickly. After some research I found this is normal for Plasma’s during the first 150-200 hours of use. I left my tv on for 24 hours on a cable channel, and already I’ve found that it’s happening less frequently. I am a big gamer, and put in a few hours on the Xbox every night, the tv is brand new, and there are ZERO permanent burn ins, but I still wanted to mention it. Just don’t leave a still image on for hours and hours during the first few months of use.br /br /Overall I’m really happy with this tv. 50 inches is huge in my living room, and the color, contrast, and resolution is really nice. Doesn’t have all the bells and whistles, doesn’t have the 120hz, or contrast and picture you could get for another $1,000-$2,000 but at this price it’s a great tv.br /br /UPDATE: I’ve found a bad issue with this tv, that seems to be a problem with many tv’s. If you send your signal to the tv through HDMI, and then out of the tv using the optical digital audio out, it will not pass 5.1 surround sound onto your receiver. From what I can gather it’s a DRM issue. This is really lame, because the receiver I had did not have any HDMI inputs, to use as a pass through to the tv.br /br /What you have to do then is have HDMI go to the tv, as well as optical audio from your Xbox/Bluray Player/Tivo HD go to your surround sound receiver. The other option if your receiver does have HDMI inputs is to run the HDMI from your Xbox/Bluray/Tivo to the receiver, then another HDMI from the receiver to the tv.br /br /Again, the tv will not pass 5.1 surround sound to your receiver from HDMI inputs. It turns it into 2 channel stereo. It will pass 5.1 surround sound if you get your HD signal directly from over the air or cable.

I bought this TV as a gift to our family. Sears priced it at $899 (although it was $799 there on Black Friday.)br /Pick-up was a bit of a problem since I was told by the Sears salesperson that the TV must not be transported flat (horizontal) and the shipping carton is 36.9 inches tall. My Jeep Liberty and an a neighbor’s Ford Expedition didn’t have sufficient clearance to haul it upright so I used my 16′ trailer to pick it up. A bit of overkill, but it got the job done.br /The picture is terrific as noted in other reviews, and I would rate the set as Five Stars except for the lack of easy-access inputs. I understand that other Samsung plasmas have side inputs but this model doesn’t.br /However, it’s a great TV for the price.

This TV is amazing for the price. The picture is crystal clear, especially on HD. I bought it at Sears also for $799. The other comment about it not having an optical audio input is true, but I just ran my optical digital cable from my DVR cable box straight to my sound system and it works great. The picture is wonderful when playing DVDs as well, although I do not have a BluRay player.br /The 720 isn’t a big deal on this model. My parents have a 1080 Phillips and on HD, the picture is just as good on this Samsung. The 1080 is slightly better on SD channels, but they paid $1100 more. I did lots of research before buying, and you can not beat the picture quality and clarity for this price. The colors are amazing, the blacks are very black. We had to adjust the brightness and color a little, and the TV has many different settings such as sports and cinema which you can switch for better color on different types of shows.br /I would highly recommend this model.

This television is perfect. We absolutely love it. The best part is we did not have to fight the crowds at Wal-mart on the day after Thanksgiving to get it. We paid the same price for it and it was delivered right to our door.

I bought this television in July. Let me just start by saying that the television is AWESOME for watching television and DVDS/BDs. I have it going through my Sony receiver, which has 4 HDMI inputs, and the ability to add audio delay. Sooooo… that being said, I don not have the problem with not being able to connect enough devices to the tv. I bought it for that very reason…I don’t want a bunch of wires/cables goiing to the tv as it hangs on the wall! So I have 3 HDMI devices going to the Sony receiver, and 1 HDMI output from the Sony to the tv transmitter…I never have to change the tv input device… just the receiver input device. Now, add this all to the Harmony One remote and it works perfectly!br / I also don’t have the problem with gaming delays because I simply don’t hook the games (PS3, WII, 360) to the system…I use my 72-inch Samsung TV (which cost less initially on Amazon, now goes for 3,999.00)for that!!!!

I recently returned this tv. The picture is absolutely stunning, but the tv loses signal with the wireless base unit once every hour or so. I had the samsung tech come and work on the base unit. He replaced some part in it, but even that did not solve the problem. A great tv if it works, but unfortunately mine did not.
