I just got the Samsung PN58B550. I’ve had the TV now for about 3 days and so far I am very pleased with my purchase. Blacks levels are very good. Remote and menu is fairly easy to use. There’s no professional reviews out there right now only because the set was released in January of this year. As a result I was a little concerned about buying this set. I’m hoping the reviews will be favorable. How different could this unit be compared to the top rated PN58A550?br /br /The only negative is there’s a slight buzzing coming from the back of the set. No big deal. If you stand in front of the TV you can’t hear it at all. I’m sure it’s part and parcel of the electronics.

I really am glad I purchased this TV. I read reports about it heating up at the corners but I have had no such experience with it. I like the picture and sound quality for normal TV and its not bad for movies either. I did hook up a receiver for 7:1 though. Its a great TV, sleek and I didn’t realize for a month that I could touch the edges to control sound, power. Nice feature, The touch of red thing really isnt a big deal. I suppose there is a slight aesthetic appeal but not a buying consideration. Nice inputs/outputs and even a direct network input port - although I haven’t used that feature.

All in all this is an excellent television. Blu-ray movies are absolutely beautiful, and standard DVDs upscaled by my PS3 don’t look bad either. HDMI cables provide a noticeably better picture than any other input. The only thing that doesn’t look so good on this TV are SD TV channels. These tend to be very grainy. In terms of calibration, you really don’t need to spend $400 to have someone calibrate the TV to make it look good. Just play around with the settings until you get it the way you want it. br /br /As mentioned in the title, burn-in is problematic on this television. Do not leave any menu screen on the television for more than a couple minutes. Make sure that if you do get artifacts on the screen that you use the scrolling anti burn-in tool. This has saved me a couple of times already. Also, make sure to utilize the pixel shift function, and remember to turn the brightness and contrast down if you ever play video games where you have a still image in the corner of the screen. br /br /My only other complaint is that the speakers that are built into the TV aren’t very good. You will need a home theatre system to go with this TV. Even an inexpensive system will greatly improve the sound quality. The home theatre is a must have with this TV.br /br /All in all this TV is a great value. It has some small problems, but no TV is perfect.

We love our new Samsung Plasma HDTV. The color and clarity is fantastic! We like it so much better than the LCD’s. You can see it clearly from all angles, and fast motion sports and movies are no problem. We ordered it through Amazon and it was delivered on the date we were quoted in great condition. If you are considering this TV, it is totally worth every penny.

The Television is awsome. I also purchased the hdmi cables (6 foot at $9.50 each) and the tilt wall mount for $89.00 that holds up to 200 lbs.br /The white glove delivery was great. They brought it down to my basement, unpacked the TV hooked it up, made sure it was working, and took away the big box. I had originally purchase the 50″ but returned it for the 58″. Amazon had the guys pick up the 50″ when they delivered the 58″. I only had to pay $79 for the delivery for the 50″ back to Amazon and of course the additional cost of the 58″. Ive had the new 58″ for a month and love it.

Pro’s:br /This was my best purchased on-line so far. I’ve researched this TV for several months. I believe I did almost a year of researching before I decide to buy this TV. Since I didn’t need to replace my current set I took my time and did my investigation for the best fit for me and my family. I love the colors and the sharpness of the picture. Consumer Reports gave the 50″ model high praise and mention that they didn’t review the 58″ but determine that the results shouldn’t be any different. So I went for the 58″. Oh baby did it pay off! Since the prices of movie tickets went up I decided that a 58″ would be better for watching DVD’s and it would feel more like a movie theater. Just like being at the movies. I haven’t even tried the High Definition yet and I’m still blown away. Watching the March Madness on this TV is nothing short of spectacular. The blacks are as good or even better than reported. The fast motion is not jittery or boxy like you would get with a LCD’s at that size. Going thru Amazon was also a great experience. The truck drivers that delivered the set said “Oh, you got this from Amazon, so you get the grade A delivery service”. They helped me unwrap the box. Had me closely inspect it and we turned it on to confirmed it was working. They would have taken the box but they recommended that I keep the box just in case I had to return it within the 30 days. br /br /Cons:br /The only thing I can say is that I don’t like the mute button feature. When you mute the sound you get a speaker display that won’t disappear and scrolls up and down the side of the screen. It is totally annoying. The remote is cool but I am not too crazy about it. Too big and not that smartly designed but if those are the only complaint’s I really can’t complain.br /br /Conclusion:br /I’ve been to several big name stores and was able to see this TV up close. The best price was $2,800.00. Eat your heart out retailers, I got this great system for as little as $1,920.00 total. That includes shipping and taxes.br /br /Samsung PN58A650 58-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV with RED Touch of Color

At first I was a little concerned when my reds and greens were too strong. I calibrated my screen and kept the black level off, and it cleared everything up. The HD channels look incredible and the 480i analog channels look great too. br /br /The 58″ size is the perfect size for our basement, not too big or too small. I can’t imagine having a tv bigger than this.br /br /This is an awesome tv and a great value.

My wife and I treated ourselves to new TV this year and we just love our purchase. Watching high def movies and programs on this is just like being in a movie theater.

I have had this TV now for about 3 weeks and am very happy with it! The picture is very good and I am still tweaking things to try to make it better! Easy to navigate the menus and there are enough settings to keep you busy for a long time.I would recommend this TV to anyone who wants a big beautiful picture!

I had been shopping for a TV for about 9 months. Having already been a big fan of Samsung and the color quality I’ve seen on the A550 40″ LCD. br /br /Going back and forth to window shop at several retail chains, and annoying the staff with questions and not buying their TV. At first I didn’t care for plasma; the heat issue, the burn-in issue, and overall fragile vibe I had for plasma TVs in the first place. br /br /Originally I had my heart set on the A750 52″ LCD. When I did a generic samsung search on amazon.com I found the 58″ plasma to be same price at the time. br /br /Now I did the conversion from an HDTV back to a SDTV so I know what I was dealing with. A 52″ HDTV is the same height of a 40″ SDTV. This little bit of info is very important and why some people are confused with their HDTV purchase. Being familiar with the height of their previous TV, and replacing it with an HDTV and having that feeling that somehow its smaller. br /br /Exactly what happened to me. I thought my 40″ HDTV was big, but when you take the widescreen out of the measurement. It become a 27″ SDTV. br /br /BIG DIFFERENCE br /br /and that is what explained why I felt it was smaller than I expected. This fact become more profound when you watch media that isn’t widescreen. The 52″ HDTV becomes a 40″ SDTV height wise. br /br /Hopefully, I haven’t lost you yet. br /br /Having waited and done my homework this 58″ plasma TV fit the bill. And as a bonus I got the better picture quality. Which is very important for me since I have the Sony PS3 for games and blu-ray movies. br /br /It comes shipped in a box that was bigger than I expected. Very well packaged. I immediately turned it on and left it on for a few hours to see if there was any shipping damage. Because plasma TVs are a huge sheet of glass, I had to be sure before they left.br /br /Yes, this TV will require 2-3 people to lift into place ! no kidding.br /br /My only warning is this: this plasma is very bright and because of that burn-in can happen very quickly. A matter of minutes depending on what is on the screen. The user’s manual suggests turning the brightness down on several settings. It also mentions for the first 100hours, 200hours and 1000hours, burn-in is possible at different levels of severity. We have since learned to just flip the channel real quick when we pause a movie. The “JumboTron” as my friend puts it is worth that inconvenience.br /br /The really good news is that burn-in seems to only last a few minutes if turned off or flipped to another channel. You don’t have to worry about ruining the TV.br /br /Another interesting fact. When idle this TV runs at 215 watts with no signal. When in use, showing on broadcast or movie this TV pulls a whopping 675 watts. I know this because I still need to get a bigger UPS (uninterpretable power supply) for it. Since I wouldn’t want something stupid like a brownout (which is worse) or power failure to damage it. br /br /So Yes, all in all I’m very happy I got this TV.
