I have to agree with Robin. Thousands of outraged Samsung DLP owners have come to seriously regret ever buying one. Samsung DLPs appear to have some major design flaws. The most common symptoms we encounter after 1-2 years are:br /1) Set contiuously turns itself off br /2) White or green dots begin appearing across screenbr /3) Ghosting, lines, or afterimages on screen (event though DLPs do not suffer burn-in)br /br /#1 is typically caused by degradation of the lamp, lamp ballast, and colorwheel as they break-in together. When the lamp starts to go (all lamps have a limited life-span) it can indirectly cause a cascade failure in the sensors of the other two components. Sometimes, the ballast and colorwheel check out on the o-scope and meter, but they register a new lamp as a fault. Either way, all 3 components usually have to be replaced at about $400 in parts. #2 #3 require even costlier repairs.br /br /I usually advise folks (who don’t have a Svc Plan) not to waste their money trying to repair it; just bite the bullet and go purchase a more reliable brand. They really don’t like hearing that, but it’s just not cost-effective for them to repair something for half the purchase price of a better comparable set.br /br /You don’t have to take my word for it. Try Googling “Samsung DLP problems” or “Samsung DLP turns off” and see for yourself.br /br /Samsung still uses the same basic design.br /Samsung still officially denies any design flaws.

Having researched High Definition TV I picked the Samsung HL72A650 72-Inch 1080p Slim DLP HDTV based on its features, knowing full well that it doesn’t have two of the features I am interested in; a NIC (network interface card) and very flat. Network connectivity I readily achieved with a PC or notebook. Even after connecting all “boxes” there were still free HDMI connectors open for my HP notebook, allowing me to suck down video, sound, and images from other PCs on the home LAN. Because of the set’s relative thickness/bulkiness I used a stand that simultaneously holds the other HI-FI and video/TV components.br /br /Sound in the set is good enough but I never use it, having a top-of-the-line Pioneer Elite receiver cum top-of-the-line Canton speaker system. br /br /Picture, is flawless. Didn’t do any measuring, but the Samsung HL72A650 72-Inch 1080p Slim DLP HDTV worked fine right out of the box. While I do understand the technology of color TV and am quite finicky about picture and sound, we found the out-of-the-box settings good enough.br /br /Since I knew beforehand that the viewing angle in all the new technologies is much less than that of the old CRTs, I am not complaining. Guess it is good enough when you sit right in front of the set–any flat screen set. Because of the large screen size, the viewing angle changes relatively little when one moves around in front of the set. After all, my LCD screens on the notebook and desktop are no better and with their much smaller size the limited viewing angle is much worse because you have to tilt the screen when you stand up and when you look at it with someone else you can’t see much unless you stand right behind the other user.br /br /In summary, I haven’t done any testing but the set works so good, I just didn’t feel the need to test or adjust the picture.br /br /

This is a BIG TV! And that is what I was looking for. Did not want a weenie, expensive Plasma or LCD that would cost me the moon for few inches thiner (already have one of those too). br /I Compared the function, specs, prices to the Diamond 835 and the HL72A650. The latter is what one the purchased (even compared reviews of LCDs and Plasmas). br /I replaced a 60″ Sony Grand Wega(tm) SXRD Projection TV, The Sony was a great 1080p TV. br /This is better and bigger - OH, much bigger.br /br /Games: I love games. PS3. Great. Metal Gear Solid 4 excellent and the rest.br /U will need to explore the functionality of the controls and adjustments.

You might be very happy with the Samsung DLP for the first two years, but it is about at that time that white dots begin to appear and they multiply until the entire picture is blank. I googled this problem and found many other irate Samsung DLP owners with the same issue. And, it seems that Samsung is in denial of a recurring issue. They should be recalling these TV’s. What seemed like such a great Cyber Monday deal two years ago has turned into the most costly, worst-made product I have ever purchased. Buyer beware!

Thats what everyone says when they walk in my media room!!!….It is an awesome set!!….Since seeing mine I have had friends and family run out and purchase the same set. It is very versital and has every function you could imagine. The picture is perfect and looks great. I will be buying another one for my bedroom next.

We were very excited when this TV Stand came so that we could set up our new TV on it. However, the box arrived damaged, damaging the top piece. We called the number for replacements parts and we thought, great, we’ll build it in about a week. After a week, or so, I called again saying I had not gotten the item. They apologized and said they’d order it again. Finally, I called a 3rd time and begged to talk to a manager who transferred me to the actual parts depot. I begged to get a tracking number and was told it wasn’t possible. I asked that I be contacted when the part shipped, and was told i would. But i never got contacted. We finally built the stand with the damaged part and received a new part 3 days later. We’re wondering which of the 3 I asked for this one is! Either way, we’d never order from this manufacturer again.br /As a TV stand, it works fine, and it was relatively easy to build.

This is a wonderful product. Very sturdy, easily assembled and a gorgeous shiny black lacquer finish with a glass middle shelf. This thing could hold an elephant.

I have this stand holding up my 72″ Samsung and it matches the set very good. Nice and sturdy as well.

We just installed this stand last night. VERY easy instructions to follow - and the stand is very classy looking. However, like just about everyone else - our stand came damaged due to the cardboard wrapping. The end of the large top piece was damaged. br /br /Very easy to resolve though. I called the manufacturer at 877-490-3338 and they are sending me a new piece - in 8 days by Fed Ex. Easy as pie. Definitely recommend this manufacturer for great customer service!
