I was holding out on the HDTV thing until I was sure that whichever TV I bought, I wouldn’t be dissapointed. I wanted the size and the resolution at a great price and this set was it! I’m guessing it will hold me over for about 4 years until the OLEDs are out cheap or until the LCDs have come up in size and down in price. The sad news is that this is the last year for these projection style sets. No more DLPs. At least Samsung went out w/a bang instead of a whimper. No regrets.

You might be very happy with the Samsung DLP for the first two years, but it is about at that time that white dots begin to appear and they multiply until the entire picture is blank. I googled this problem and found many other irate Samsung DLP owners with the same issue. And, it seems that Samsung is in denial of a recurring issue. They should be recalling these TV’s. What seemed like such a great Cyber Monday deal two years ago has turned into the most costly, worst-made product I have ever purchased. Buyer beware!

This is a BIG TV! And that is what I was looking for. Did not want a weenie, expensive Plasma or LCD that would cost me the moon for few inches thiner (already have one of those too). br /I Compared the function, specs, prices to the Diamond 835 and the HL72A650. The latter is what one the purchased (even compared reviews of LCDs and Plasmas). br /I replaced a 60″ Sony Grand Wega(tm) SXRD Projection TV, The Sony was a great 1080p TV. br /This is better and bigger - OH, much bigger.br /br /Games: I love games. PS3. Great. Metal Gear Solid 4 excellent and the rest.br /U will need to explore the functionality of the controls and adjustments.

I have to agree with Robin. Thousands of outraged Samsung DLP owners have come to seriously regret ever buying one. Samsung DLPs appear to have some major design flaws. The most common symptoms we encounter after 1-2 years are:br /1) Set contiuously turns itself off br /2) White or green dots begin appearing across screenbr /3) Ghosting, lines, or afterimages on screen (event though DLPs do not suffer burn-in)br /br /#1 is typically caused by degradation of the lamp, lamp ballast, and colorwheel as they break-in together. When the lamp starts to go (all lamps have a limited life-span) it can indirectly cause a cascade failure in the sensors of the other two components. Sometimes, the ballast and colorwheel check out on the o-scope and meter, but they register a new lamp as a fault. Either way, all 3 components usually have to be replaced at about $400 in parts. #2 #3 require even costlier repairs.br /br /I usually advise folks (who don’t have a Svc Plan) not to waste their money trying to repair it; just bite the bullet and go purchase a more reliable brand. They really don’t like hearing that, but it’s just not cost-effective for them to repair something for half the purchase price of a better comparable set.br /br /You don’t have to take my word for it. Try Googling “Samsung DLP problems” or “Samsung DLP turns off” and see for yourself.br /br /Samsung still uses the same basic design.br /Samsung still officially denies any design flaws.

Thats what everyone says when they walk in my media room!!!….It is an awesome set!!….Since seeing mine I have had friends and family run out and purchase the same set. It is very versital and has every function you could imagine. The picture is perfect and looks great. I will be buying another one for my bedroom next.

Having researched High Definition TV I picked the Samsung HL72A650 72-Inch 1080p Slim DLP HDTV based on its features, knowing full well that it doesn’t have two of the features I am interested in; a NIC (network interface card) and very flat. Network connectivity I readily achieved with a PC or notebook. Even after connecting all “boxes” there were still free HDMI connectors open for my HP notebook, allowing me to suck down video, sound, and images from other PCs on the home LAN. Because of the set’s relative thickness/bulkiness I used a stand that simultaneously holds the other HI-FI and video/TV components.br /br /Sound in the set is good enough but I never use it, having a top-of-the-line Pioneer Elite receiver cum top-of-the-line Canton speaker system. br /br /Picture, is flawless. Didn’t do any measuring, but the Samsung HL72A650 72-Inch 1080p Slim DLP HDTV worked fine right out of the box. While I do understand the technology of color TV and am quite finicky about picture and sound, we found the out-of-the-box settings good enough.br /br /Since I knew beforehand that the viewing angle in all the new technologies is much less than that of the old CRTs, I am not complaining. Guess it is good enough when you sit right in front of the set–any flat screen set. Because of the large screen size, the viewing angle changes relatively little when one moves around in front of the set. After all, my LCD screens on the notebook and desktop are no better and with their much smaller size the limited viewing angle is much worse because you have to tilt the screen when you stand up and when you look at it with someone else you can’t see much unless you stand right behind the other user.br /br /In summary, I haven’t done any testing but the set works so good, I just didn’t feel the need to test or adjust the picture.br /br /

I am not much on the techno jumble regarding high end electronics. I can only tell you we have no complaints whatsoever! Quick, great, shipping to our doorstep…and the delivery guy brought it inside. If you don’t have to have your television mounted on the wall, this is the way to go! No doubt, the BEST AND MOST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK! I custom built a wooden stand/entertainment center based upon the dimensions listed in the product specifications. It is a great addition to our interior decor. I cannot see spending this kind of money for a picture half this size just so you can “attach it to the wall”. This set is not that deep….just over 14″. That’s less than what the old 32″ tube sets! The picture can be viewed from all angles, even from up close. The ratings don’t lie about this televsion. The few poor ratings people complain about I believe are mostly older issues with previous models that have been resolved (I hope!) Mine is working great with a great looking picture!

I’ll keep this short and sweet. The TV is amazing, I highly recommend purchasing it. br /br /On a side note delivery was flawless. They called me 3 days after I ordered and made an appointment to deliver it that day. When the delivery guy showed up he helped me carry it upstairs, unpack it and stuck around while I set it up. Once he saw that the TV was working and I was satisfied he left. Fantastic service!

Okay, so I had one of the very first Samsung DLP rear screens back in 2003; and I thought it look fantastic and blew away any plasma or LED competition…..until I got this set! The picture is absolutely brilliant and the LED much brighter than the bulb based sets. What really surprised me, is that the speakers are pretty darn good (as opposed to what others were saying in their reviews)….lets face it, you’re not going to use you home sound system for everything you watch on TV; hence these speakers are more than adequate….they even have an equalization adjustment! I’ve NEVER heard plasma or other LED based sets have audio any better than this Samsung! Got my unit from 6Ave and was extremely happy with the service. I was a little nervous having never ordered such a large unit on the internet before, but they were very courteous and helpful with my order. Not crazy about the so-called white glove service though; had to help bring in the set then beg the delivery guy to unpack it!!br / There are more options in the menu to fine tune your picture to your specifications; after all, everyone’s taste about a good picture is different! A shame that they are discontinuing making these dlp’s; this one is supposed to last you about 20 years!!! Long enough for the next format! Don’t delay, and get your hands on one of these sets before they’re gone. You’ll NEVER be able to go black to plasma or LED when you have one of these baby’s!

I have now had this TV a few weeks and can speak intelligently about it. First, the set was delivered in about 3 business days - I am in PA and it was coming from NJ, though. While 61″ is monstrous, the set is not deep at all. It’s roughly twice as “thick” as a flat-screen set. The great thing is that all the inputs are on a panel on the side of the back that makes it super easy to hook up and organize cables. A really nice bit of thinking there. The first thing I did was run DVE for Blu-ray on PS3 in 1080p and the default setting for the TV in “Movie” mode were fairly accurate. The mode was preset to “Warm 2″ which is quite stupid, but just changing it to “Standard” made a huge difference. For most people, this would be the only real adjustment they would need. I ran the set through several interference patterns and it performed quite well. Also, overscan was not a problem at all, which had been one of my concerns. Some minor tweaking was necessary to obtain the correct contrast levels for my living room - but not much. I pulled the color back a bit as the set does tend to bloom just a little. Relative to TV’s anywhere near this price range, however, it looked amazing. It took me about an hour tops to tweak the set to my personal tastes, and it looked incredible! The black levels are amazing, especially coming from an LCD set - this better than most Plasmas. The color just pops, especially when you pull it back just a bit. I watched Planet Earth in 1080p and it looked beautiful! Other than some extreme contrast situations, which I have never seen a set pull off properly, this Samsung kicked butt. Lastly, deinterlacing 1080i is very good. I have Comcast HD as a provider and it looks great. Also, due to the fact that this is an LED set and not LCD, I could detect almost no motion-blur and Standard Definition channels looked much better than any LCD I have seen. I was going to get a 52″ Pioneer Kuro for $750 more, and this set is not only better, but it has a much larger image. You will be very happy with this purchase I am sure.

I’m in no way a video expert, but I know what looks good to me. Having watched Directv HD and played Xbox on it, I love the picture. It is in a long room so I have no issues with the side view and it doesn’t seem to have any issues with glare from the back window. I didn’t need it mounted to the wall so that wasn’t an issue either. For the $1448 I paid, I could not be happier.

This 67 inch Samsung LED-based DLP TV has been a successful purchase and adds much pleasure to my home theater experience. While it is a physically large piece, it can fit into most settings but does require a minimum seating distance of 9 feet for optimal viewing. The image via Blu Ray Discs is remarkably good, standard broadcast cable TV is passable and most DVD playback is adequate. br /br /The default values given on the internal menu do require adjusting for suiting individual tastes and can be a bit time consuming, but worth the effort. Many details are available at AVS Forum on the web for those willing to invest the time and energy to maximize video performance. br /br /I use this DLP set via HDMI into an AV receiver [Onkyo 906] and thus bypass the TV speakers, etc. This is very productive.br /br /DLP technology has evolved significantly since the earlier lamp-based systems and this HL67A750 unit shines. Video viewing has come forward nicely at my installation and the only pity is that this technology will soon disappear as most things are moving toward LCD technology. br /br /Get one if you still can.

Easy setup, excellent picture with no bulbs to replace, sound button has to be pressed each time you want volume increse but with a sound system its not a factor. product delivered in good shape. its very light . HD from FIOS is out of site. there are more inputs on tv than i know what to do with them tv computer vcr ipod camera dvd etcetc. frankly though i was a little worried about the Electronics Expo delivery policies check before you purchase see if they are right with you. Lucky i went through AMAZON (the worlds best). All said the phenominal TV is well worth it, if you like the price go for it you will not be sorry. The screen is massive!!!

This is not a review because I never owned one.I have been very tempted because it sounds like a great TV.And now that it is an obsolete technology the price is also great. The reason I have not purchased one is the negative reviews.I have never owned any TV other than CRT.I have never had a problem with any of them and I keep them around 15 years each.I realize that most of the reviews are good however there are enough bad ones to turn me off.Buy A good old CRT TV plug it in and it plays worry free for 15 or 20 years. You can watch it from any angle and it still has a great picture.I have a 57in Sony for 4yrs and my brother has a 61in.Samsung hl61750.I can’t see that his picture is much if any better than mine just a little bigger. He has had his worked on twice.I have never had to have a CRT TV worked on.I just get a new one when the picture starts to get dim.I realize it is dumb to write a review on something you never owned but with all the problems that seem to develop with DLP,lcd,PLASMA.I just wanted to reminde people there is still the old tried and proven stand by.Trouble Free CRT.

I have had this TV for 9 months and it has been perfect. Now the colors fade in and out and it turns itself on and off every 5 minutes. I have had a service technician come out and he change parts, which took a week to get and the TV worked perfect for 15 days and now the color fades in and out and it turns itself on and off every five minutes again. The service technician does not know why it does this. I have been watching my 10 year old 55 inch mitsubishi. As much as I like the Samsung product line, I can not recommend this TV, it did not even last one year before having major problems.

This is a wonderful product. Very sturdy, easily assembled and a gorgeous shiny black lacquer finish with a glass middle shelf. This thing could hold an elephant.

I have this stand holding up my 72″ Samsung and it matches the set very good. Nice and sturdy as well.

We were very excited when this TV Stand came so that we could set up our new TV on it. However, the box arrived damaged, damaging the top piece. We called the number for replacements parts and we thought, great, we’ll build it in about a week. After a week, or so, I called again saying I had not gotten the item. They apologized and said they’d order it again. Finally, I called a 3rd time and begged to talk to a manager who transferred me to the actual parts depot. I begged to get a tracking number and was told it wasn’t possible. I asked that I be contacted when the part shipped, and was told i would. But i never got contacted. We finally built the stand with the damaged part and received a new part 3 days later. We’re wondering which of the 3 I asked for this one is! Either way, we’d never order from this manufacturer again.br /As a TV stand, it works fine, and it was relatively easy to build.

We just installed this stand last night. VERY easy instructions to follow - and the stand is very classy looking. However, like just about everyone else - our stand came damaged due to the cardboard wrapping. The end of the large top piece was damaged. br /br /Very easy to resolve though. I called the manufacturer at 877-490-3338 and they are sending me a new piece - in 8 days by Fed Ex. Easy as pie. Definitely recommend this manufacturer for great customer service!
