I purchased this TV from amazon in Oct. of ‘06. As others have reported I was very pleased with the picture and other elements of this product.br /br /The other day the TV just died. No problem, I thought. It’s still under warranty. I can call them, and they’ll send out someone to repair it. I called Samsung support, and they created a repair ticket. They said they would call me back when their service locator was available. That took two days….a little irritating that it took that long to get me the name of a service center in my area that could perform the work, but it was nothing compared to the frustration to follow. br /br /I called the service center to setup an appointment for the technician to come out, but they said “sorry, you are out of our service area. We can’t come out.” I called Samsung support back and asked for a service center in my area. They stated there weren’t any. HUH??? I live 25 miles outside of the 8th largest city in the U.S. (San Diego) and the only service center in my area is 60 miles outside of San Diego proper? That didn’t seem right, so I called again and had another support person check. No….that is the closest one, and did I mention they don’t service my area!!! The only recourse Samsung was able to offer was they would have to submit paperwork to get “executive approval” to have someone from the service center sent out for the repair. This would take 7 to 10 BUSINESS DAYS. Are you f@!*%$$ kidding me!!!??? That is completely unacceptable. I can’t imagine any company having the arrogance to suggest such a thing to a customer…”sure, we’ll get back to you in a couple of weeks.” No thanks, I think I’ll take my business elsewhere. I immediately asked to speak with someone higher up to get this problem escalated. The support person connected me with Executive level support, but they were just as ineffectual, saying the best they could do was to mark the request as urgent. I think we know how much that is going to change things. br /br /Obviously, Samsung has a process that is almost completely broken. To make a customer wait up to two weeks to have a repair ticket approved is mind numbingly ridiculous. Add to that the time it may take to complete the repair, and it could conceivably add up to three weeks or more. This is what I spent $2,400 for? Samsung will never see another penny from this consumer, and I’ll do my best to steer other potential customers away from such egregious customer service.br /

My husband and I bought the 32″ version of this tv and everything was fine until 16 months after we bought it. One night the display suddenly went screwy and then to the snowy fuzz screen. The whole time it sent off this high pitch noise that was deafening! We tried turning it off with the remote and with the buttons on the side of the television, but nothing worked except to switch the breaker off. When we tried turning it back on nothing would work. After working with it for 2 hrs my husband was able to get it to come on, but within a matter of minutes it would freak out and nothing would work again. My husband went online to see if there was someone that had the same problem and maybe had a solution for it. Instead he found a LOT of people with the same problem and a $300 solution from a technician. It seems everyone’s television started having problems just months after the manufacturer’s warranty expired.br /br /Of course when our problem started the manufacturer’s warranty had also expired, so we took it back to the store. We were lucky and got our money back because it was a reputable store and I think they were embarrassed that they sold such a crappy television. br /br /But my advice to anyone considering this television is to save yourself the trouble and get a brand you know and trust and one that works!

I’ve had this Akai 27″ for over 1 1/2 years now, so my review is based on extensive use and long past the factory warranty.br /br /It’s just as good as described by all the happy customers who’ve posted their comments here.br /I don’t know what to add, except that after 20 months it’s still going strong.br /br /The DVD player works fine, except of course it’s not as good quality as the more recent DVD players that have come out during the past year. Still, the convenience is wonderful, and the quality is as good as anything I’ve been watching for the past five years on DVD.br /br /My only complaint would be that the sound cannot be turned up to a loud volume: small room volume only.br /br /This TV/monitor is being used about 8 hours every day, and I could not be more pleased.br /

This is the second AKAI LCT2721AD television I purchased, because the DVD player went out on the first one. Had this one less than six months, and the DVD player went out again. Good television, bad DVD player! Spend a little more for a better one. I should have (twice!).

This TV is very good for the price. Specs include: 8ms repsonse time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, ATSC/NTSC tuner, built in DVD player, HDMI in, and others listed in the description.br /br /Features aside, this TV delivers a solid picture. I put it in my roughly 100 sqft. apartment bedroom and it is much larger than the 13″ tube TV it replaced. With only a 2-d comb filter, picture sometimes looks a little washed out, but not too too badly. Plus, the 2-d comb filter is only used on the composite-in and NTSC cable in, nothing else. Motion blurring is non-existent at best, and only a mild nuisance at worst. I was watching a Futurama DVD and when the ship flies by at the start of the intro, it gets a little blurry but not so bad that it is a large distraction. br /br /Preset picture modes are good, and the menu gives you quite a bit of wiggle room for fine tuning the picture, given the price of the TV. The menu also has an audio adjustment feature but this does hardly anything to effect the sound. The speakers are only passable. I recommend using the audio out function as it will give you so much more.br /br /progressive scan DVD player itself is a nice compact slot-loading unit with good controls and a decent picture. The remote is easy to use and has a decent range which is good because this TV is NOT compatible with universal remotes (as far as I know anyway). br /br /In short, this is a good solid TV with nice features for a low price. If you are good at shopping around you may be able to get one of these for the same price as a new xbox 360 premium which, might I add, comes in very clearly and crisply through the HDMI in. It’s not going to be a “wonderful change the world amazingly superb ridiculous” TV but it is good enough to warrant the price for frugalists.br /br /===========update=============br /I’ve had this tv for a few months now and I can honestly say that I am even happier with it now than I was before. br /br /First off, the speakers are much nicer than previously indicated. This was because of my mistake. The basic treble and bass EQ of the TV was way off and the surround sound simulator makes things even more complicated. However, after some fine tuning I got some really good lows out of the speakers and some good punch. It can’t replace home theatre and I still recommend audio out if you have better speakers (I have a Philips 2.1 set-up) but otherwise they work a lot better than before.br /br /Control over individual red, green, and blue color temperatures are really cool. This is something that isn’t offered on a lot of sets but it is a blast to fiddle around with. br /br /Black levels are deeper than expected, seems much better than the indicated 1000:1 contrast ratio but only on YPbPr, HDMI, and DVD. For any signal coming in at 480i it is only so-so. br /br /If I have one complaint about this TV now it is that it gets very very hot. This is one set which should be well ventilated. My parents own a Panasonic 42″ plasma, and this tv can get hotter than the plasma after only being on about 30 minutes. br /br /Still, it is extremely reliable and gets a 5 for 5 for exceeding standards both in size and price.

I’ve had the TV for about a year and a half or more. The DVD player never worked from day one, so I’m not judging by that, I have an Up-Converter with HDMI anyways. But the TV is great. Picture quality is great, shows in 1080i (I have the 32 in), has HDMI input, and HD component cable input. My beefs with it are that it will randomly switch between mono and stereo sound, and I have yet a way to figure out how to make it stop. After about 9 months, you could here a small crackle in the sound every once in a while. And now, there is a dead/dying pixel. But honestly, for the price I paid for a 32 in HDTV…. phenomenal.br /br /ps. The Start up takes a long time..

I dont know how much this will matter, since this TV was released years ago, but I bought mine the day after Thanksgiving in 2006. I have loved it ever since, and have never had any problems. A family friend is looking to upgrade from a CRT to an LCD, and in helping them look online and in stores (they only want a 32″ and would prefer staying under $600)I am seeing todays “new” TVs coming out with worse secs than this television! I just bought the Samsung LN52A650 this past weekend, so I will most likey part ways with this terrific set since I am no longer using it, and it will give them a TV for less than current market ones with better performance than they can find in their price range.

I’d been looking for an LCD TV for sometime. Originally I was going to pickup a 26″ but then became so aware of the minor price differences between a 26″ and a 32″ I’ve always known I wanted a Samsung, mostly because of my respect for the Korean people. Plus, due to all the reviews, and my experience with Samsung LCD monitors, I knew I wasn’t making a mistake picking up a Samsung.br /br /From day 1, I haven’t been able to complain–much. The picture quality, how the blacks appear, etc. all are wonderful. Using it with my Panasonic DVD player, Apple TV, and even Dish Network receiver has not presented any issues. I’ve even got an Nintendo Wii hooked up to the component input. Each and every input looks wonderful. The menu system makes sense and is easy to navigate.br /br /My only complains would be that I wish it had more HDMI inputs. It only includes 2. I ended up picking up an Xtreme Mac HDMI switcher, which works well, but, it would’ve been nice not to have had to buy that. br /br /The other issue is with the built-in “surround sound” type software sound enhancement it has. While it works, if you leave it on for everything, it just sounds odd. In the end, I’ve just found to leave it off..and now I’m looking for a real surround sound system. br /br /I wish it was bigger now, but really a 32″ isn’t a bad size. ALl in all, if you pick one of these babies up, I’m sure you won’t be disappointed. I haven’t been.

Excellent quality TV. OTA (Over The Air) HD picture looks great. Also has two RF (coax) inputs - one for OTA and one for cable TV. The only downside is the lack of Clear QAM (unscrambled cable HD) signals.

I love this TV! I own two 50″, and one 42″…I was trying to order another 42″. What I absolutely HATE is this company. Amazon claims there’s a glitch in their system which won’t allow me to leave feedback for this company, so this is my only means of doing so. Here’s the story: br /br /First, understand that my wife and I have been Amazon customers for over 2 years. br /br /After 15 days of waiting, 9 phone calls to LCDMART, and 3 phone calls to Amazon, I finally cancelled the order for my plasma screen through Amazon. br /br /The SAME day I cancelled the order, I FINALLY received a call from LCDMART and the representative told me that I’d receive my TV within 3 business days, and that he was emailing me a tracking number. He claimed that Amazon takes 10 business days to submit orders to his company…from experience, I find that very hard to believe. I waited until the following day, and not having received my tracking number, I called yet again, and was told by John at LCDMART that he was emailing me a tracking number immediately. I did not receive it, so I called YET AGAIN, and was told that I would not receive a tracking number until the following day. I asked “How can I receive the TV by tomorrow if you don’t have a tracking number today?” I then asked when I would receive the TV. I was told, “I don’t know.” br /br /I asked to cancel my order, and the representative for LCDMART said, “No. I can’t cancel your order.” I repeat, he said, “NO!” br /br /After a few choice words, and my persistent demand that my order be cancelled, he put me on hold, then told me my order was cancelled. br /br /This company is doing Amazon a great disservice, and is damaging its reputation. LCDMART did not return a single phone message, or email inquiry. br /br /I’m sure LCDMART will find some reason to make me look like an unreasonable customer, but read the reviews…I’m not the first to experience this, and this “feedback bug” appears to have been in effect since 5/2007, so NO feedback, negative or positive, has been submitted to this company since then. br /br /Buy the product, you’ll be happy. Just don’t use LCDMART.

I bought this TV after much research. It looks great, has a great picture and features. HOWEVER, after seven months it is starting to exhibit extreme problems. Plasmas are known to ghost. Typically this memory is not intrusive if you limit your time on channels like ESPN or other channels with tickers or graphics. After seven months this TV ghosts so bad that it has a lingering burn image after watching the loacal TV news. That’s right, the trasitory graphics from local news leaves a ghost image. Even worse the pixels do not release the image and the TV displays red and green noise after the image is gone or in dark scenes DURING A MOVIE. If the movie cuts from bright to dark the pixels don’t release and there is red and green “snow” in all the dark areas. This is after seven months of careful and light use. The money you save for Plasma over LCD is not worth it with this set. I would love to go back and undue this buy. I have a lot of experience with plasmas at work as well as at home. This is the least durable I have ever seen. DO NOT BUY. look at the other reviews that list this same problem. THIS IS A BAD SET.

I love this plasma tv! I have had it for about 9 months, and I have it wall mounted in my basement with all the cables hidden in the wall. It is sleek looking and has an awesome picture! No cons that I can think of.

Great Set Last Year When I ordered it From Amazon based on a Consumer Reports Review saying at the time it was the Best Over-All Value. Decided to Move Up to the 40A650(1080P) and Will Put 32″ Set in The Bedroom. Used Amazon’s White Glove Delivery and The Entire Process, Including More Than $300 Savings Over My Local Best Buy or Circuit City, Was Without Exception…A Great Value. Highly Recommend! NOTE: In Stock Ordered From Amazon.

I bought a different brand first and it lasted about 2 months. What a nightmare getting my money back on that one. I replaced that one with the Samsung and have had no problems. HD is wonderful.

I have had this TV for several months now, and I must say that I am very happy. The picture is bright, sharp, and colorful. HD DVD and Blu-Ray discs look excellent on this set, and it is really the best way to use this set. Standard DVDs look very good, but would probably be better with a DVD player that up-converts standard DVDs to HD quality. Standard cable TV looks good, but not as good as on a conventional tube TV. The menus are easy to navigate.br /br /Energy consumption: First, this TV puts off some heat. Not as bad as a plasma, but I definitely feel the heat on my hand within 4 to 5 inches of the screen. The screen gets very warm to the touch, but not hot. The set has an energy saving feature that can be controlled from the remote. The energy saving feature has four settings (Off, Low, Med, and High). The ‘off’ setting gives you the brightest and most colorful picture. I only use this setting for watching movies, or if the room lighting is very bright. The ‘high’ setting reduces the brightness of the screen, and considerably cuts down on the heat output. Personally, I use the ‘medium’ and ‘high’ settings for most of my regular TV viewing.br /br /My only real complaint of this set is the remote. It has a poor layout, with the number buttons near the top and the ‘Enter’ button on the lower part of the remote. If you enter channel selections directly, you have to awkwardly shift your hand to hit the enter button. The most annoying thing about the remote is the fact that you have to point it directly at the TV for it to work (no bouncing signals off the walls like most remotes). If you are pointing the remote off center of the TV by just a few degrees, it won’t work. I don’t know if it a design problem with the remote or the sensor in the TV, but it sucks. Whoever designed it that way should be taken out back and flogged!br /br /Overall, a great TV that I highly recommend. I took one star away because of the design of the remote. Happy viewing!
