The Television is awsome. I also purchased the hdmi cables (6 foot at $9.50 each) and the tilt wall mount for $89.00 that holds up to 200 lbs.br /The white glove delivery was great. They brought it down to my basement, unpacked the TV hooked it up, made sure it was working, and took away the big box. I had originally purchase the 50″ but returned it for the 58″. Amazon had the guys pick up the 50″ when they delivered the 58″. I only had to pay $79 for the delivery for the 50″ back to Amazon and of course the additional cost of the 58″. Ive had the new 58″ for a month and love it.

We love our new Samsung Plasma HDTV. The color and clarity is fantastic! We like it so much better than the LCD’s. You can see it clearly from all angles, and fast motion sports and movies are no problem. We ordered it through Amazon and it was delivered on the date we were quoted in great condition. If you are considering this TV, it is totally worth every penny.

I really am glad I purchased this TV. I read reports about it heating up at the corners but I have had no such experience with it. I like the picture and sound quality for normal TV and its not bad for movies either. I did hook up a receiver for 7:1 though. Its a great TV, sleek and I didn’t realize for a month that I could touch the edges to control sound, power. Nice feature, The touch of red thing really isnt a big deal. I suppose there is a slight aesthetic appeal but not a buying consideration. Nice inputs/outputs and even a direct network input port - although I haven’t used that feature.

All in all this is an excellent television. Blu-ray movies are absolutely beautiful, and standard DVDs upscaled by my PS3 don’t look bad either. HDMI cables provide a noticeably better picture than any other input. The only thing that doesn’t look so good on this TV are SD TV channels. These tend to be very grainy. In terms of calibration, you really don’t need to spend $400 to have someone calibrate the TV to make it look good. Just play around with the settings until you get it the way you want it. br /br /As mentioned in the title, burn-in is problematic on this television. Do not leave any menu screen on the television for more than a couple minutes. Make sure that if you do get artifacts on the screen that you use the scrolling anti burn-in tool. This has saved me a couple of times already. Also, make sure to utilize the pixel shift function, and remember to turn the brightness and contrast down if you ever play video games where you have a still image in the corner of the screen. br /br /My only other complaint is that the speakers that are built into the TV aren’t very good. You will need a home theatre system to go with this TV. Even an inexpensive system will greatly improve the sound quality. The home theatre is a must have with this TV.br /br /All in all this TV is a great value. It has some small problems, but no TV is perfect.

Pro’s:br /This was my best purchased on-line so far. I’ve researched this TV for several months. I believe I did almost a year of researching before I decide to buy this TV. Since I didn’t need to replace my current set I took my time and did my investigation for the best fit for me and my family. I love the colors and the sharpness of the picture. Consumer Reports gave the 50″ model high praise and mention that they didn’t review the 58″ but determine that the results shouldn’t be any different. So I went for the 58″. Oh baby did it pay off! Since the prices of movie tickets went up I decided that a 58″ would be better for watching DVD’s and it would feel more like a movie theater. Just like being at the movies. I haven’t even tried the High Definition yet and I’m still blown away. Watching the March Madness on this TV is nothing short of spectacular. The blacks are as good or even better than reported. The fast motion is not jittery or boxy like you would get with a LCD’s at that size. Going thru Amazon was also a great experience. The truck drivers that delivered the set said “Oh, you got this from Amazon, so you get the grade A delivery service”. They helped me unwrap the box. Had me closely inspect it and we turned it on to confirmed it was working. They would have taken the box but they recommended that I keep the box just in case I had to return it within the 30 days. br /br /Cons:br /The only thing I can say is that I don’t like the mute button feature. When you mute the sound you get a speaker display that won’t disappear and scrolls up and down the side of the screen. It is totally annoying. The remote is cool but I am not too crazy about it. Too big and not that smartly designed but if those are the only complaint’s I really can’t complain.br /br /Conclusion:br /I’ve been to several big name stores and was able to see this TV up close. The best price was $2,800.00. Eat your heart out retailers, I got this great system for as little as $1,920.00 total. That includes shipping and taxes.br /br /Samsung PN58A650 58-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV with RED Touch of Color

For the last six weeks, we have enjoyed having Sony’s Bravia KDL-46WL140 W series Full HD 1080p HDTV grace the wall of the family room, a spot previously hidden by a large wooden media cabinet that contained a 37″ JVC CRT TV. The contrast in clarity and sharpness between the two TVs is amazing, and the Sony’s crystal clear picture on HD TV shows just how much technology has changed in just nine years.br /br /Before buying this model, I was looking for a flat screen with plenty of HDMI inputs (not that we need them now, but in three years, who knows?), a TV that itself was not ugly or overstated (didn’t want any touches of red or other colors as I was not buying a car), and a TV that would make me stop and stare at the picture. A bit of research preceded my expedition to find the right TV (we were saving change for quite some time), and this model was the one I kept coming back to at the large consumer club where I bought it. The other TVs, all getting their feed from the same in-store source and all subject to the same harsh overhead lighting, all paled in comparison. (Plus, this was the last one in the store, showing that I was not alone in my opinion.)br /br /We installed this 46 inch on a Sanus rack, and actually our measuring was the most time-consuming part of the installation. The set up menus were easy to follow, and the we had the TV up and running in about 30 minutes. We have tried out some of the options, and after some initial tweaking in the deeper levels of the menus, have not tended to leave the settings as is. I suspect once we add a blu-ray DVD player, we will need to reexamine the options.br /br /It took a bit longer for me to figure out all the inputs and get the surround sound working through my older non-HDMI receiver, but I agree with others, that the TV’s sound is a bit anemic, and the added muscle from surround sound really enhances movies and concerts. br /br /Guests have all commented on the quality of the picture and the size of the 46 inch screen. For us, this is plenty of TV, and we should be “future proof” for a few years yet. I have not yet hooked up the Internet component (though it is installed) but plan to run an ethernet cable directly from a router to the TV in the next few weeks.

This is a very good television with many options for expandability. The four HDMI ports are extremely useful and made hooking up my component add ons a breeze. I attached a DISH DVR, a DVD/VCR combo, a DVD player, a Blu-Ray player, and an A/V receiver — and it was an absolute delight to find all of them worked perfectly with the Sony. The 120hz picture makes fast action scenes a pleasure: no blur. And, the 1080p shows up as such for viewing Blu-Ray discs. There is, occasionally, visible pixeling for certain scenes — although they are hard to describe. The sound is the one disappointment that keeps me from giving this a higher rating; to hear clearly from the television speakers, the volume must be turned up to uncomfortably high levels. Using external speakers is the only way to go with this baby. The remote control is easy to use and handles all needed actions. Setup is a breeze. This model is available at high discounts from many places. I got mine at CostCo and have not felt cheated. You will, I believe, find this model — with most of the latest technical improvements (alas, it does not have 240hz refresh)– to be good value for the money. My only regret is not getting the 52 inch model; it, however, is overpriced in my opinion.

I purchased this tv at Sam’s club on black Friday and couldn’t be happier. The price was 1348.00. The tv came with internet hardware which I still haven’t connected, I bought it to watch tv not some goof on u-tube. The menu on the tv is very simple to use and takes no time at all to start watching your favorite shows in HD. The picture is great along with very good sound. If you find one buy one.

update to valid comments about my rating and opinions.br /br /THE PDP 50 NOT AS ADVERTISEDbr /br /samsung url: br /http://www.samsung.com/us/system/consumer/product/2008/05/06/pn50a650t1fxza/PN50A650_spec.pdfbr /br /is the tech. reference i was working from. see for yourselves RE: (1) 15 v 10 watts and (2) 1080p.br /br /(1) samsung specs a 15 watt sound system, not true. the sound system is the old 10 watt system.br /br /(2) 1080p? another advertizing falsie. unless there is a mystery control button the “1080P” option does not exist. maybe your cable com. offers the “p” option, but other wise forget it. on personel computers the “p” feature was a platform independent signal powerhouse waiting-to-be-used enhancement.br /br /(3) if you own the last version of the samsung plasma 50 and you want the best-of-best plasma technology - look to another vendor. keep what you have. it is still at the top 95% of the plasma TV market. wish i was fore warned about the PNP 50. i would have saved the money. there are no eyeball shaking “enhancements” on the PDP 50 that make it better that the older version and worth the extra cost.br /br /(4)your first plasma? y..e..a..h. samsung is the best first choice for now. the lie about the sound system (10W v 15W), absence of a 1080p feature, and the the toady online crap are problems samsung must address. next technology upgrade for me won’t include samsung. RE: the need for online connectivity? what were they thinking? do we want some unknown big brother interrogating the tv system? definitely no asset. br /br /(5)the handset control is plain “stupid”, that is to say poorly engineered and de-evolved v the same-last model. COLORed buttons have no function. a real disappointment if you want to indepently select picture mode AND sound mode.br /br /i like samsung e-products, but the misrepresentions and absent dazilling enhancements to picture technology, i will look to other vendors when i by again in 2011.

I bought it off amazon but the seller didnt have it in stock and basically told me I wasnt getting the tv. I found it at Circuit City 40% off, the day before they closed the doors. It is an amazing TV! Just about any movie is a good one, when watching it on this tv. If I had to make a complaint, it would be the brightness. Not at all bad, I just dont like cranking the settings up to do it.

This showed up in my Gold Box in December (this is written in April; I wanted a chance to live with it for a while). Gee, I wonder how Amazon knew I wanted this very TV? :-) Price was fantastic, and White Glove delivery was great; the only hang-up–it was chilly on delivery day, and the guy couldn’t turn the set on to run down his checklist. No biggie, but it was hard to wait for the set to acclimate before getting the chance to turn it on. There aren’t enough good things to say about it. Touch of color is very subtle and the clear band around the edge of the bezel is cool. After dialing back the settings for a break-in period (say what you will, I felt better doing it), I calibrated the set and am still amazed at the picture. High Def sources are excellent (over-the-air and U-Verse’s HD signal). Even component 480p out of the DVD player looks great. No Blu-Ray yet; waiting for another Gold Box deal. The sound isn’t world class, but I knew that going in and have a very nice amp and speakers for when it matters. Love this set–not like, love!

I bought this TV 2 months ago and have to say I made a right choice. At the time when I was looking for 50″ HD TV, I had researched several different and much more expensive Panasonic models. What finally helped me to decide was the visit to the local TV store to see the difference between different sets. Unless you are looking for a TV to brag about how much you have spent, you will never be able to justify to cost difference of $1,000!br /The picture quality will blow your mind and the Blu-Ray pictures will keep you glued to the screen of this TV… :-)br /Last thing is the sound quality that is somewhat average. If you really want a superior sound quality, then this model will not deliver it to you: you will need to buy an extra sound system for the total experience to be perfect. But if you are like me, you would rather spend $1,000 less knowing that you will never be able to see a much of a difference as compared to much more expensive models.
