I’ve had this TV for one week. The setup was a breeze. It was too heavy for me to hang alone, but my wife and I lifted it onto the mount with little trouble. The picture in HD is super. Standard def looks grainy, but it is not too distracting. The antiglare treatment works well. The sound is good, but too small for a TV this grand. I hooked it up to my receiver w/ bookshelf speakers and a subwoofer. Ahhh, much better now. I was nervous about the buzzing complaint, so I purchased a Monster Power Clean power strip (used for under $50) on Amazon. This little accessory is nice, and I can hear the difference in my soundsystem, which I also connected to it. I found a slight scratch in the glossy cabinet after two days in my living room. I don’t think that it happened during setup. My guess is that it happened before it was placed into the box. Overall, I’m extremely satisfied considering that I paid $899 for this TV. It has lots of cool extras (cable card slot, USB port, media card slots, etc.) that make it a more versatile choice than any other in it’s class.

I got a great deal on this TV, and do think it was worth it. I love the size, and the HD picture is fantastic. I did not have any trouble with buzzing, and I just have the TV plugged into a regular power strip. The standard channels are quite a bit grainy. But I have no real comparison for this. I assume most LCD and Plasma sets have this issue? Anyway, the set is spectacular looking, and versatile. Great features, and great HD picture. If that is what you are looking for, it is worth it.

Well I brought this plasma about a month ago, I’d definately give it five star rating!!! I didn’t get it for a steal of a deall @ the $800.00 bucks like someone else did anyway, At first didn’t make any buzzing noise with the regular cable box so opted to get the hd cable box thats the first thing I notice buzzing just like other complained about, instead of calling the store I called Samsung directly ran a test still got buzzing,So samsung wanted to set me up with in house service, I then called the store that I puchased it spoke to the man that sold it to me he said if it wasn’t making the buzzing with the regular box itwasn’t the tv, he explained to the wires that the cable co. gives you were poor quality couldv’e been creating the buzzing so he suggested in buying the HDMI cable a good one monster cable preferably, so I went bought one 4ft runs about $100.00 8ft is about $119.00, Iwent with the 8 footer it ran me $128.00 change, Any hooked up “BINGO” that what it was, once I turned it on the pictures clarity sound was “EXCEPTIONAL” If I can give anyone advice go the better cables especialy when dealing such a nice plasma, “BEING CHEAP CAN ONLY GIVE YOU CHEAP RESULTS”

I picked this set up online for $800. I bought a Panamax power conditioner to prevent some of the things I heard about buzzing. Picked up the conditioner for 20 bucks online and had it read for the tv. Plugged the tv in and it worked perfectly!br /br /HD looks great and I hear absolutely nothing at all. Connected this to my XBOX360, digital camera, and media pc. Have had a flawless performance with all 3 thus far!br /br /Very happy with this set and would definitely recommend it to others.

I can’t complain about this set at all. I originally had a used Daewoo plasma from sams club and it sucked big time, heated up the room like crazy, and constantly had ghosting. I returned it at sams club and bought a samsung spn4235 at circuit city because they had a promotion (2,700 dollars) plus a 300 dollar gift certificate. They were getting rid of the model to get in new ones. The only thing I was let down about was it was EDTV but I found out HDTV models were a heck of a lot more expensive. When I first got the model it had this weird clayface effect and the picture wasn’t what I expected however I adjusted the settings with Avia home theatre setup and I was very impressed with dvd picture. I thought this was as good as it was going to get but recently I ordered HDTV through dish network. I thought the standard channels looked like crap but I was able to set my settings at 1080i and 16:9 and hdtv channels were amazing. The picture was very lifelike and colorful and it fit my whole screen without stretching. I watched the discovery channel and the DNIE option is great for hdtv viewing. The unit does decent with blacks but not the best. The set definitely can provide a great picture but every tv can only provide as good a picture as the source it gets from. My suggestion is if you go hdtv use either component or dvi and avoid svideo and rca cables. The price is great and if your looking to save money and have a good picture I recommend the unit. There is a slight buzzing noise but I haven’t noticed it. Don’t bother with the side speakers go with surround sound it will enhance your experience much more. Overall a very good unit and I am definitely not disapointed.

Great picture and great sound. Especially when you hook up a subwoofer to the set. I also purchased the optional speakers which have good overall quality. I have read some other reviews regarding some buzzing with the set but I have found that when I have hooked up the speakers there are 3 screws on the side of the set. If these are overtightened this could cause some buzzing noise. By loosening the screws you can make the buzzing go completely away. It worked on my set. hope this wil help if you get some buzzing on you sets enjoy

This, like other Samsung products, worked great for a few months. All of a sudden it won’t recognize my Mac from the DVI port. The Mac works fine with other monitors, and even a Dell LCD TV. But the Samsung no longer recognizes it. Support from both the Tweeter store where I purchased it and from Samsung direct were absolutely NO help. I would stay away from Samsung and Tweeters for this reason.

I purchased this Plasma for a friend and have had it in my home for 2 weeks. I too have looked at many plasmas in the stores and compared. I have to say this one has a beautiful picture. Compared to true HDTV plasmas in the store, this EDTV has a great picture. It is hard to spend the extra money for subtle differences that are hard to see even side-by-side. Most of our viewing is cable or DVD movies so I can’t rationalize the extra money. Even with a cable input, the picture is great. It is clear and has little “noise” or “graininess” considering it is a cable signal. Friends come over and remark what a great picture. pInternal amp for speakers is fine. The Virtual Dolby does give good impact to the 2 speaker sound. For DVD’s I use my separate surround sound system. One thing Samsung forgot on this model are audio output jacks to connect internal tuner sound to your surround sound system. So many other inputs, I don’t know why they forgot those outputs.pThis is one of the few Plasmas that comes with a 2 year warrenty in home! The appearance of the TV is perfect in our home and looks great on or off. We are likeing it soo much, I will probably buy one for myself now that I have seen and used it my home.

We bought this TV via Amazon in 2004 and have been very pleased overall. At the time it was one of the cheapest 42″ plasmas available at around $2800, and now it can be had new for closer to $1500 thanks to the rapid developments in plasmas. If, like us, you don’t have HDTV service or immediate plans to upgrade, it’s a good choice. DVDs look excellent and standard channels (we use DirecTV and Tivo) look as good as they possibly could.br /br /Keep in mind, though, that this isn’t a top of the line and will have some trade-offs. Most notably, the resolution is not true HD even though the TV can accept all HDTV formats and will display them at its own maximum resolution. Also, there are no built in speakers or HDTV tuner, but this isn’t an issue when most people will use the unit with a surround system and cable box/satellite receiver. We route all our video sources (DirecTV, DVD, VCR, video game) through a $300 Sony surround system that routes the video into a single cable to the TV and the audio to 6 satellite speakers. If you have HDTV service the set does support the DVI connector but not HDMI, so you may need an adapter.br /br /She set emits an audible buzz that’s loudest when the unit first turns on, but never goes away fully. It does not have a noisy internal cooling fan, though, as some early plasmas did. The set also radiates a lot of heat and draws a large amount of power — more than 350 watts according to the specifications.br /br /Many people mistakenly fault plasmas like this one for premature burn-in when what they’re noticing is only temporary. If you see the shadow of a previous image on the TV you need only watch something else for a few minutes and it’s gone.br /br /Picture quality will be astounding for those upgrading from a standard CRT TV like us, but it’s not perfect. Darks lack clarity and night scenes are often hard to make out. Bright scenes look excellent. We watch standard TV in the “Panorama” mode, which gradually stretches the square image to fit the rectangular screen. We prefer this to watching with gray (not black) bars on the sides of the image, but that mode is available too. DVDs will display in full 16×9 widescreen mode and look beautiful.

Great TV for the price. Out of the box settings were very good. You could get a better TV for 2000 dollars, but this seems to be the best TV in this price point by a wide margin. I’ll be dropping cable now since I have a HD antenna, and the picture looks amazing! Everything is so smooth, and the color is great. I had no problem giving up the 1080p features of higher end TVs for this TV (I don’t have a blu-ray player, and it’s only 42 in so you’re not going to notice the difference hardly). Worth every penny and more.

I got this TV in the Best Buy bundle they offered with the Xbox 360. For the price, I had absolutely not expected how great this TV is. The picture quality is definitely amazing, and I still can’t find a TV in any display stores with better HD quality so far. Like all plasmas, it does show the true black perfectly and there’s no motion blur what-so-ever in any of the video games or sports programming I’ve played so far. It also has inputs galore (3 HDMIs, VGA/sound PC input, optical audio output) which makes it easy to hook up to all the different components. I’m also able to cut down on extra cables by utilizing the optical sound output to my Denon receiver, so anything I view on the TV feeds digital sound to my AV system.br /br /If you’re looking for a true hidden gem, this TV probably offers the greatest value out there right now - and the Plasma is still superior to LCD at the moment.

First we bought the 42 inch vizio LCD (XVT) because of the 1080p and 120hz refresh, and it was on sale at Costco, but we found it to be annoyingly grainy, even while watching discs on our high-end Bluray machine (Sony BDP-BX1). After much deliberation and research online, we decided for the money we should be thrilled about the purchase, and so returned the Vizio to Costco (they took it, no questions asked, even without the box) and bought this Samsung plasma from Bestbuy for $100 less. The result… this is what we were looking for. We watch movies in the dark and this TV is perfect for it. No grain, crisp and beautiful. Is 1080p really that important? Or is this just more size-matters syndrome? Who knows - but this 720p plasma looks worlds better than the 1080p LCD, for less money. Go with this one!

I bought this TV on 10/31/2006. It’s been one year. I have had absolutely no problems whatsoever. I’ve noticed a few people’s comments about a blue pixel showing up on the screen..I have not had this problem.I did have my screen professionally wall-mounted.But, I don’t think the professional installation has had anything to do with long-term quality.I originally paid $1599.00 for this TV from a big-box store. I can’t believe the price is around $950-$999. There may be newer versions with supposedly better features, BUT, for the price, this TV is great! The reason I bought this TV was that 2 guys who worked in the store personally owned this unit. I figured they must know what they are doing. Some have commented about the buzzing noise when the volume is turned up–I keep the volume on zero and feed it through a stereo system so I have never had the humming/buzzing problem people are talking about. However, I have turned off my stereo and used the volume built into the TV and did notice a humming sound. If you are considering buying this TV but do not plan to hook it up to a home stereo of some sort..you might want to reconsider buying this unit. But, if you plan to use your stereo volume—then no problem. I guess the humming could be considered a drawback.br / One interesting anecdote about this unit. It will definately induce envy from your friends and family. One of the selling points of this TV,to me, was it’s piano-black-finish edges. This gives it the look of the expensive Pioneer Elite TVs. I don’t personally like flat screen TVs with the greyish borders–they tend to look plastic and cheap. This TV looks expensive! It’s a show-stopper if you wall mount it like I have, very clean and neat looking.br / Overall I want to state that I have no specific allegiance to Samsung. I am not a Samsung employee. I do not own Samsung stock. I used to think of Samsung as a low to mid quality Korean electronics maker. If you had told me 5 years ago I would be paying $1599.00 for ANYTHING Samsung..I would have told you, you were crazy! Overall, I have been very satisfied. I would not hesitate to recommend this TV, especially for the price as it stands today.

Bought this TV and loved it at first. About 3 months after purchase It developed a hum in the audio on the component connections. Called Samsung and they sent someone out who took the TV away and repaired it. Came back and had it now had a hum on the output side (going to the receiver) and 4 months later it also developed a problem with the screen (blue spot on the bottom left hand side). Called Samsung again. They sent out yet another (non Samsung Authorized repair center). They’ve had the TV now for over 15 days and no update from them. My advice to you is don’t count on Samsung repair. They are worthless. Also, it should be known that this TV does not support variable output on the sound so you’ll always have to adjust at the receiver (just a note). If the TV worked correctly, I’d probably give it a better review. It is nice, but if you have problems at all, you’ll be in trouble. Buyer beware!!! Samsung will not take care of you if you have problems!!!!

the blue “dots” appear. I’ve had this about a year-and-a-half and the entire left side of the screen becomes a blue smimmer of varying translucency after about 1-2 hours of use. This has started to spread to the middle and top of the screen and is ruining the experience of watching anything. Anyone have any advice? Samsung customer service said they never heard of this, but it seems that I’m not the only one with this problem (and no more warranty). YIKES!
