  The picture is simply amazing on the TV. I was delighted with the purchasing experience. The TV arrived on time, the Amazon white glove installers set it up and made sure it was working before they left (taking the boxes with them). I picked the time that I wanted it delivered.br /br /Setup that I am using: samsung LN52A650 PS3 (for games and blue-ray), Tivo HD, older Yamaha rx-v995 receiver. I route all the video inputs directly into the TV (via hdmi), and all the sound directly into the Yamaha (via optical inputs). At some point I should upgrade the receiver.br /br /I sat the TV on my fireplace mantle, I put several of wood screws through the plastic and metal base of the TV to secure it, then put an earthquake strap attaching the back of the TV to the wall just in case. This works really well for viewing from all angles.br /br /Strengths:br /-Picture quality. The most important feature of course. This picture just looks stunning no adjustments required from the time that it was setup. You can tweak it for Games vs. Movies and that is about all that it requires. br /-View from all angles is fantastic.br /-TV is very slim, and relatively light, swivel is very useful.br /-No glare: I have the TV in a bright room with multiple light sources (windows, lights, skylights), there is no reflections off the screen.br /-I would definitely buy this again.br /br /Areas for improvement:br /- If you use the HDMI into the TV, then try to route the sound out via the TVs optical out, it will only output stereo sound and not surround.br /-Flipping between the TV inputs with another remote (Tivo remote) doesn’t work well. I can select between the TV inputs, however I am left with the overlay showing the different input devices on my TV for about 5 minutes…I would prefer if this disappeared in 5-10 seconds. (If you use the samsung remote, you just click select).br /-The Auto-motion 120hz…i have tried enabling this feature with movies or sports or different types of shows. I find that it makes everything appear very unnatural, so I have just turned it off. The video coming from the Tivo and PS3 is great.

  I purchased home prewired for surround with 4 ceiling speakers. I read reviews on tv for about a year. I purchased this set and Yamaha RX-V565 and a cheap subwoofer(polk PSW10. I hooked up tv when delivererd to my comcast cable box, set the display to movie mode and sound to surround and did not feel the need to do anything else. Sound, view etc was just fine. The next day I hooked up the Yamaha and yes the ceiling speakers are nice but if I had not found the Yamaha at such a good deal I may have never bothered getting. Without a blue ray I cannot appreciate what I am missing but am satisfied with cable tv as I never play movies much anyway. I have amp defaulted to medium from factory delivered and have not bothered trying anything else at is seems okay to me. Maybe when I rest up from all the installation I will experiment but for now just enjoying.br /br /

  I bought this TV based upon the excellent Consumer Reports reviews, but am returning it after 27 days because the picture quality with Standard Definition Cable and DVD is so poor as to be unwatchable, even though my Digital Cable box and DVD are both connected to the TV via HDMI.br /br /When viewing true HD content from the Digital Cable box the picture *does* look great on this set - vivid colors, acceptable motion (though not as good as CRT or Plasma). Similarly, Enhanced Definition content from the DVD looks great too. br /br /But, the plain fact of the matter is that most Cable content is 480i and many of my DVDs aren’t Enhanced Definition, and it is completely unacceptable to me that 480i programming on this fancy new HD set performs far worse than it did on my 10-year-old 36″ Sony Wega Trinton, which I stupidly gave away to a friend when buying this set.br /br /The SD picture problems include: edge outlines around objects on screen, a grainy picture, artifacts in more-distant objects on the screen, and motion artifacts.br /br /I tried to resolve the problem with the cable company, and went through 3 cable boxes, 2 HDMI cables, the 3 HDMI ports on the TV, 1 visit from a Tech with the cable company, many tweaks to the cable box settings, 2 calls to Samsung Support, and hours and hours of tweaking the TV picture settings. Nothing gave me a substantially better picture for SD cable content.br /br /So, I decided that I’d had enough, and since my 30-day return period hasn’t expired, I’m ditching this set, and plan on buying the top Consumer Reports rated Plasma in hope of a more-satisfactory viewing experience.

  This is the first time i have purchased such a high dollar item via Amazon and the internet. Cudos all around. the TV arrived earlier than expected. The delivering company set it up for me and it works perfectly. A+

  5 STARS just doesn’t happen - But I have to make an exception in this case - I’ll leave the specs. and details to others but what I can tell you is to STOP LOOKING, you have just found a fantastic TV and you will NOT BE disappointed - don’t be concerned about delivery either (at least in my area) I recieved it in a matter of 4 days in perfect condition - I have ordered many items here and things never seem to go this good but they did - Everythings excellent - Hope it goes good for you - I KNOW you’ll love that TV

  I don’t disagree with the other reviews, the HD picture is great. BUT, if you watch any SD content the picture is terrible. Virtually unwatchable because people turn red or purplish as the TV tries to upscale the image. As a result, it is great for watching the football game but if I want to watch something that is only sent via SD, I have to go to a different TV. My bargain 50” 720p plasma does a much better job at balancing out SD while not sacrificing noticably on the HD. So, if the ONLY thing that you are going to watch on this is HD (SatCableBlueRay), then it is great. If you are going to watch ANY SD over the lifetime of this TV, I’d recommend looking at another TV which may give up a bit on the HD but provide a more balanced useful all round TV.

  This is my third Samsung LCD. The picture is great, like the others, but the sound is terrible. It’s so bad, sometimes I can’t understand what’s being said. I had to run the sound through my stereo to enjoy watching the t v. I don’t know if I got a bad speaker or what, but the sound sucks.

  The TV arrived on time and in perfect condition. The picture was great out of the box. The sound was good after adjusting the equalizer. This is a 60hz set and I can’t see any problems even when watching sports. I would recommend it as a good buy.

  We have this setup in our bedroom. We watch movies on our home theater system which uses the Panasonic AE3000U projector for reference. (it’s mind blowing)br /br /For bedroom use it’s mainly HDTV programming from cable feeding our HD Tivo. So that is the image I am looking at most the time. I also popped in a Bluray or two as a maximum image test.br /br /WOW.br /br /The image, as many have said, looks 3D in a way. Very clear, deep blacks, and intense color. I am also blown away at all the adjustment options there are. I mean you can tweak this TV to work in a lightless cave or on a sunny beach!br /br /The cable feeds had me drooling then I popped in “Sunshine”, the newer space horror flick. This movie is full of dark contrast heavy scenes that murder most the mid tone black levels. Not with this set! All of the details in the hallways and in the space scenes were clearly visible. No more murky dark areas. Deep black “space”, bright stars, and visible mid tones galore. HEAVEN.br /br /I would say for anyone sitting 6 feet to 8 feet back from this TV, you’re done, buy it. Further than that you need to find something larger.br /br /Why didn’t I give it 5 stars? It actually has a very cool and welcome DLNA feature built in. You can play mp3s, jpgs, and clips from content on a thumb drive. It even has a decent menu and GUI for it. However they did not provide a network connection to more fully take advantage of this. Connecting it to your network is really what DLNA is all about. And it’s further odd the lack of a network connection when they say to check Samsung now and then for firmware updates! (like most bluray players do with their built in net connections)br /br /So only a little gripe. And really, with my HD Tivo, I get all the DLNA stuff on my network anyway.br /

  We did research for the model and brand of TV. We did comparative shopping for the price. Amazon came through again! We are pleased with our TV and would recommend it to others.

  I bought this tv online, mainly because it was the only 32″ tv I could find that would fit into the cutout space in the wall above my fireplace. Although it was a little pricier than I wanted to pay, I had no choice. I am very, very pleased with it. The picture is superb, and I have not experienced the “tinny” sound that a couple of other reviewers have mentioned. The only problem that I have had was in the set up process. I worked with it for a couple of hours without success, until I found that I needed to follow the instructions and use the remote that came with my cable system, rather than the instructions and remote that came with the tv (I have a fiber optic cable system and dvr box). It would have helped morons like myself if the tv manual had carried a warning that for some cable and dvr systems the instructions of those systems should be followed!br /br /Anyway, now I am happy for having bought this tv. The picture is clear from all angles. Were it not for that omission in the instructions, I’d have given it a five star rating without hesitation.

  This was the top rated TV on consumer reports. But the reality is that 1080p is not necessary and can actually be worse than 720p when it comes to watching standard definition DVD’s/TV in terms of picture quality. For example, compare this model and the 720 version on CNET’s website and you’ll see that the 1080 does not do as good a job as the 720 in fully resolving standard content. On the other hand, if your watching HD-DVD/Blu-Ray’s or Hi-def sattelite/cable on this set, the picture is very good.

  We purchased this product for our daughter. It is exactly the same as the one we purchased earlier for ourselves. She saw it at our house and asked if she could have one for her birthday. Unlike our setup, she does not have cable and has to use an antenna. She is able to get HD, and says it is “gorgous”. br /Although the first time it was shipped it came with two remotes and no screws to attach to the base, this was quickly rectified without any hassle from Amazon.

  My wife and I spent a lot of time checking out reviews on the web, as well as viewing many different models makes of HDTV’s before finally deciding on the Samsunt LN37A550. Right from first view my wife fell in love with the picture: to her it just seemed brighter and clearer than all the rest. After much comparison to the competition I would have to say I agree with her. The picture is very bright and clear. br /br /As far as 1080p vs. 720p some are of the opinion that you can’t tell the difference with this screen size. I personally COULD tell the difference: even if it is primarily at close range. Well, every little bit helps so 1080p was the way to go for me, but is Samsung really any better than the rest?br /br /Perhaps not better than some, exactly, but it had the right combination of picture quality, features, and price that seemed to set it apart. I initially bought a Sony (can I mention other brands?) M-series because I was able to get over $450 dollars off the store’s regular price. Not a bad deal by any stretch of the imagination, but when I got it home I hated it and had to return it. Its SD performance was execrable, there was just no other word for it (all right, maybe “wretched” could be used as well): Very noisy and highly posterized (a slight level of these attributes was even visible from some HD sources). Of course, many reviews say that ALL HDTVs have poor SD quality, but the Samsung is actually very good in this respect. And since my cable company’s HD offerings are a bit light right now, this was important to me. Of course, you can’t squeeze blood from a turnip, and there is no mistaking SD for HD, but it is still eminently watchable on the Samsung. br /br /A couple of other pros that I appreciate on this unit are: loads of picture setting options (but to me the picture is great even right out of the box), a USB input for viewing pics from my digital camera and/or listening to mp3s (but why would you want to with that lousy sound? - more on this in a moment), and 3 (count-em) HDMI ports, one conveniently side-mounted for easy access, which in concert with the swivel base makes quick work of plugging in my HD camcorder.br /br /So have we stumbled upon HDTV Nirvana here? Not exactly. As many have pointed out, the sound quality is somewhat sub-par, and even serious tweaking of the equalizer settings can’t improve it to any great degree when using the built-in speakers. Not a deal-breaker for me, I could always listen through a stereo if I want to. A nitpicky little annoyance is the glossy base, which attracts (and shows) dust like nobody’s business: we’ll live with it. The important stuff is well-implemented as far as I am concerned. Unless you have a very low tolerance for anything less than super-high fidelity sound, I can’t imagine you’ll be disappointed with this unit.br /

  I got this TV about 6 months ago and still love it. My only gripe is that the speakers could be a lot better. My 20 inch $200 box TV from Toshiba had far better speakers. In retrospect, I would still DEFINITELY get this TV again, I would just recommend getting some speakers to go with the outstanding picture.

  The Samsung 37″ LCD is great. Colors are excellent and sharp. The only complaint I have is the skimpy sound system. Everything sounded “echo-y” and tinny: I had to add a sound system. Now it’s great and I wouldn’t trade the Samsung TV with any other one.
